Much of what we carry isn’t ours.
It’s generational.
We inherit more than eye colour or family recipes — we carry forward unspoken pain, unresolved trauma, and patterns that were never ours to begin with.
Addiction. Poverty. Abuse. Negative thinking. Toxic relationships.
These cycles often echo through generations — silently shaping our lives and choices. But awareness is the first step toward freedom.
You can be the one to break the cycle.
Through holistic counselling, we gently explore and heal the deep-rooted stories passed down the family line — creating space for new patterns, peace, and self-empowerment.

Are You Being Triggered?
When we overreact or feel overwhelmed by something minor, there’s often a deeper reason.
🌿 Emotional triggers are tied to unresolved past experiences—often rooted in childhood narratives we haven’t yet questioned or healed.
These reactions can feel intense, confusing, or even out of proportion to what’s happening now.
But here’s the truth:
🔁 Being triggered isn’t random—it’s your nervous system responding to a past wound.
💬 The more we understand these patterns, the more power we have to shift them.
🧠 When we let go of old narratives, our triggers begin to lose control over us.

🧠 Head vs ❤️ Heart: The Space We Speak From Matters
There’s a big difference between speaking from the head and speaking from the heart.
When we speak from the head, we’re often in a reactive space — triggered, ruminating, replaying stories from the subconscious. Communication from this place can feel sharp, defensive, or confusing… and it often triggers others too.
But when we take a moment to breathe, ground, and drop into the heart or soul space, something shifts.
✨ We speak with clarity, not chaos.
✨ We respond, not react.
✨ We’re calm, considered, and compassionate.
And from that space… others don’t just hear us — they feel and receive us.
This is the power of conscious communication. 💬❤️
🌿 Ready to learn how to communicate from a more heart-centred place? I am here to support you.

🌿 What Is Somatic Therapy & How I Use It in My Practice

Somatic therapy is based on the idea that unresolved emotional pain—especially from trauma—can become "stuck" in the body. If left unaddressed, these trapped emotions may contribute to psychological challenges or even physical symptoms like chronic neck or back pain.

This approach helps us tune into how stress and trauma are held in the body, showing us that healing is not just about talking—it's also about feeling, sensing, and releasing.

In my counselling sessions, I incorporate somatic practices to support both mental and physical well-being. Some of the tools I use include:
✨ Grounding
✨ Body awareness
✨ Breath work
✨ Energy work on physical scars
✨ Meditation
✨ Positive imagery

By gently guiding clients to reconnect with their bodies, somatic therapy opens the door to deeper emotional release and long-lasting healing.

If you're curious about exploring this powerful mind-body connection, feel free to reach out. 💬

🌱 Caring vs. Carrying 🌱
There’s a big difference between caring for someone and carrying their emotional load.
💚 Caring means being present, listening with empathy, offering support, and holding space — without taking on their pain as your own.
🧱 Carrying, on the other hand, is like lugging a backpack full of someone else’s bricks. You’re weighed down by problems that aren’t yours to fix, often at the cost of your own emotional health.
🔑 Healthy support has boundaries.
It’s possible to be compassionate without becoming consumed. You can walk beside someone without carrying their pain for them.
✨ You are allowed to care deeply — and still protect your peace.
Feeling overwhelmed or unsure where to draw the line? You're not alone.
📆 Book a confidential session today — let’s talk about how to set boundaries that feel right for you.

From Trauma to Purpose

Sometimes, it’s not the easy paths that shape us, but the ones that almost break us.

Trauma has a way of cracking us wide open. It shatters the illusions, strips away what no longer serves, and brings us face-to-face with our deepest pain. But here's the quiet truth that often gets lost in the struggle: healing from trauma can awaken something powerful.

It’s called post-traumatic growth — when we don’t just recover but transform.
When we find strength, we didn’t know we had.
When we start asking bigger questions.
When we begin to see that maybe, just maybe… our pain had a purpose.

Your soul purpose often doesn’t arrive wrapped in light. Sometimes, it’s born from the ashes.
The heartbreak. The loss. The silence.
And then—slowly, bravely—you begin to rise.
And in that rising, you discover who you really are.

To anyone walking through the fire: keep going.
You’re not broken—you’re being rebuilt.
And what waits on the other side might just be the reason you’re here.

🌿 Healing is more than just the mind — it’s mind, body, and spirit. 🌿

When we experience trauma, it doesn’t just live in our thoughts — it settles in our bodies, shapes our nervous systems, and can even dim our sense of purpose.

✨ A mind-body-spirit approach to healing offers lasting transformation by:
💡 Calming the mind through mindfulness, therapy, and reflection.
💪 Releasing stored tension in the body with movement, breathwork, and somatic practices.
💖 Nurturing the spirit with meditation, connection, creativity, and meaning.

True healing happens when all parts of you are seen, heard, and cared for. 🌸

You are worthy of this wholeness. You are worthy of peace.

🌿 What Modalities Do I Use as a Holistic Counsellor? 🌿
In my work, healing is about coming home to yourself — gently, fully, and with compassion. 💛
Here are the main modalities I weave into sessions:
🗣️ Talk Therapy
A safe, supportive space to process emotions, explore patterns, and find clarity through conversation.
👶 Inner Child Work
We connect with younger parts of you that may still hold pain, unmet needs, or beliefs shaped in early life — offering them the understanding and care they needed.
🧩 Parts Therapy (Internal Family Systems-Inspired)
We all have different “parts” within us — like the inner critic, the protector, or the wounded self. This modality helps you build a relationship with these parts to create inner harmony.
🌬️ Somatic Therapy
Your body holds wisdom. We slow down, tune in, and notice how emotions show up physically — allowing for gentle release, grounding, and deeper connection.
✨ These approaches work together to support healing on every level — mind, body, and spirit.
Curious about how this could support your own journey? I’d love to connect. 🌱

Over the past 18 years, I’ve had the privilege of meeting and working with hundreds of widows and widowers through my grief support group, retreats, and my counselling practice. One of the most meaningful connections I’ve made during this time was meeting my now best friend—we were both widowed the same year. Our shared experience led us to interview other widows and widowers, gathering their stories from the early days of raw grief to moments of healing and rebuilding.
These stories have become the heart of a practical guidebook we’ve written Wisdom from the Widowed. It’s the book I wish I’d had back then. Our hope is that it brings comfort, validation, and, most of all, a sense of hope to anyone walking this path.
This book isn’t just about surviving grief—it’s about making sense of it, finding meaning, and slowly learning how to live again.

When Maria Carr and Aisling Pont each lost their husbands in 2006, they were thrust into a world they never wanted to enter – one of profound grief, bewilder...

Spiritual Resilience: Trusting What We Can’t Yet See
Spiritual resilience is the quiet strength that keeps us grounded when life feels uncertain. It’s the inner trust that, even in the absence of clear answers, we are being guided. Trusting the unknown isn’t about having no fear—it’s about choosing faith anyway.
