Today, my sister Natasha would have turned 40. 🕊️

7 years ago, she gave me the "nudge" to go all in on my business. As a Kinesiologist, she was a master at helping people release emotions—she always knew exactly when I needed a good cry to let it all out.

Now, as a Music Therapist, I use that same gift of expression to help my clients.

In my sessions, we use songwriting to:
🎤 Give a voice to needs that are hard to speak.
🔎 Navigate the "messy" parts of life.
🌊 Move with emotions instead of resisting them.

I don’t just teach this—I live it. I’ve recorded my own songs as a lifeline through my own journey. One of those songs is "Feather" (available on Spotify), which I wrote to process the grief of losing Tash two years ago.

Grief has taught me that life is a never-ending journey of navigating feelings. It’s what we do with them that creates beauty.

Happy Birthday, Tash. Thank you sis for the nudge xx ✨

Your nervous system speaks the language of rhythm. 🎧✨

This is a tiny snippet of my 15-minute Sensory Soother track—a tool I designed to help us rhythmically "re-tune" our bodies when life feels like too much. 🌊

Why rhythm? 🥁
When we’re stressed or anxious, our internal rhythms (heart rate and breath) become jagged and erratic. The Sensory Soother uses a steady, intentional beat to help your body find its way back to center. 🧘🫂

The Science of "Entrainment" 🧠🔬
Neuromusicology—the study of how music affects our nervous system—shows that our bodies have a natural tendency to sync up with external rhythms. This is known as Rhythmic Entrainment. 🎶🧬

Predictability = Safety: A consistent beat provides a "predictable" environment for the brain. When your brain knows exactly when the next beat is coming, your "alarm system" (the amygdala) can finally relax. 🛡️💤

Biological Sync: Studies in neuromusicology have shown that a regular, low-frequency beat can actually lower your heart rate and cortisol levels. Your body "clocks in" to the calm tempo. 📉❤️‍🩹

By listening to this track, you are training your nervous system to become familiar with a regulated state. Think of it as a rhythmic anchor for your soul. ⚓✨

✨ Try the snippet:
Press play and listen for 1:11 minutes. Feel the pulse. Notice if your breath/heartbeat starts to naturally slow down to match it. 🌬️☁️ 💓

Ready for the full 15-minute session?
The complete Sensory Soother is ready for you now. Give your nervous system the steady anchor it deserves. 🕊️

The Black Cockatoo is more than a bird; their presence is otherworldly. 🖤

On my bush walks, I’ve felt a deep, soulful intelligence in them—like an internal conversation where we are reading each other's energy.

Why are they so special?

🧠 Genius Minds: They have the intelligence of a 4-year-old human. They are musicians, tool-makers, and problem-solvers.
🎶 The Sound of Safety: Their frequency (2,000–8,000 Hz) is a grounding force. It’s the sound of rain and abundance, signaling our nervous system to stop being on high alert and just breathe.
✨ The Geometry of Sound: Incredible research by the Beeyali Project uses Cymatics to show that their calls create perfect geometric patterns in water and sand. They are singing the forest into balance. 🌿✨

Next time you hear that melancholic wail, stop and listen. Feel their call, what do you notice?

When I created the 5-Minute Anxiety SOS track, I was intentional with every 'micro-detail'—the pauses, the specific words, and the timing.

I built this because I know what it’s like to feel lost in a spiral, needing a calm voice to step in and navigate the way out. Knowing it provided that sense of peace for someone is exactly why I do this. 🤍😊

I used to think anxiety would stop me from ever being "successful." 💭

In school, my stage fright was so physical I’d be running to the bathroom right before the band started playing. 🎸

I was terrified of being seen, yet I loved to perform.

Fast forward to today, and I’ve realized that anxiety doesn't always "leave"—it just evolves. ✨

I still get those familiar jitters before I see a client. Why? Because I care. I want to provide the absolute best quality service I can offer, and that pressure can feel heavy. 🤝

The difference now is that I have a toolkit: 🧰
*Mindfulness & Breathwork: To ground my nervous system at the moment. 🌬️
*Nature: Finding perspective at the ocean, in the bush, or on a mountain climb. 🌊🌲⛰️
*Exposure: Remembering that "doing it anyway" is how we grow. 🌱

I’ve shared a new Anxiety Meditation in the shop. It includes a variety of just a few techniques I personally use to navigate these moments and bring myself back to shore. ⚓

It’s not about being "fearless"—it’s about having the tools to breathe through the fear. 🕯️

The plan went out the window, but the goals stayed center stage. 🎶

For a 4-year-old with autism, music therapy is about using music as a tool to learn how to be in the world. Here’s how the "clown vibes" actually addressed the clinical goals:

🤝 Social Reciprocity & Sharing: By modeling and mimicking the client’s movements, I created a "mirror" effect. This is the first step in social sharing—acknowledging the presence of another person and engaging in a back-and-forth exchange of energy.

🗣️ Communication & Language: The "Honey Peanut Butter Soup" song wasn't just nonsense... It was a framework for expressive language. We used the predictable structure of the melody to practice labeling (broccoli, carrots) and initiating new ideas within a safe, musical container.

🧘 Emotional & Behavioral Regulation: Sometimes, "following instructions" is too much for a sensory-overloaded brain. By letting go of the rigid plan and matching the client's intensity, we moved into co-regulation. The rhythm of the song acted as an external "anchor," helping them organize their movements and emotions.

Turns out, my inner child knew exactly what they were doing. 🤡✨

5 weeks post-op from putting a knife through my hand, and I’m in awe of how the body heals. 🔪🤚✨
My recovery "stack":
☀️ Nature: Morning sun and daily walks
💤 Deep Rest: 10+ hours of sleep, naps, and staying hydrated. (I was very lucky the pain I experienced made me fall asleep a lot 😆)
🔥🧊 Sauna+ice bath: @ 3 weeks post op (wound was visibly closed up from the outside)
🌿 Supplement and Herb support from my amazing friend and naturopath
💆🏻‍♀️ Massage+Tuning Forks: Promote blood and energy flow around my body to deliver essential oxygen, nutrients (like collagen-building proteins and vitamins), white blood cells to fight infection, and hormones to the injury site, while simultaneously removing waste products, all vital for tissue repair, cell growth, and rebuilding new tissue.
🤝 Support: Good food, hydration and help from my village of friends and family 💕
The current focus: Scar Tissue Management. To stop that "sharp, electrical" pulling on my nerves, I’m using a two-step approach to break up the density:
1️⃣ Manual Massage: Restoring the "glide and slide" of the tissue.
2️⃣ Biofield Tuning: Using vibrational frequency to soften the scar from the inside out. 🎶
Healing isn’t just physical; it’s vibrational. When we create the right environment, the body does the rest.

🧠 Neurological Bypass: Music is processed across both hemispheres of the brain, allowing non-verbal patients to respond to rhythm and melody even when the language centers are damaged.
🫂Reduced Isolation: Research shows music therapy significantly decreases the "social death" often felt by palliative patients, facilitating non-verbal communication through eye contact and facial expression.
🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒 Family Cohesion: Studies indicate that shared musical experiences reduce caregiver distress and provide a meaningful way for families to engage in "active" rather than "passive" grieving.

I filmed this video practicing my song just two days before I accidentally stabbed myself in the left hand with a kitchen knife 😅
I wrote this song maybe 5 or 6 years ago and it reminded me of why I love what I do with my art, for me it feels good to write songs, sing and play guitar.
A few of you already know, but I’m currently out of action after needing surgery for an exit wound that just missed the tendons, nerves, and bones in my left hand. Thankfully, my recovery time should only be a few weeks.
It’s been a forced rest from using my hand — and I’ve realised this will be the longest time I haven’t played guitar. I haven’t taken more than a week off playing guitar in nearly 7 years… maybe longer.
I’m feeling incredibly grateful for the love and support from family and friends who’ve been helping me and showing up for me in so many ways after my surgery.
I’m deeply determined to recover — and also very determined to do many things with one hand 😂 Accepting help hasn’t come easily, but it’s been a powerful lesson in itself to surrender and let them, to know I am worthy of it and with that I am incredibly grateful for the lessons I've learnt so far.
I can’t wait to get my left hand back on the guitar neck, rehabbing my fingers and returning to the things I love — singing and playing my songs, as well as using music to bridge the community, within ourselves and with each other. 🎶✨
