When people think of psoriasis, the first image that comes to mind is dry, reddish, itchy and scaly skin. But did you know that psoriasis can lead to chronic pain? 😯

You heard that right. This skin condition can trigger chronic pain. Psoriatic arthritis is found in about 20% of people with psoriasis. Just like rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis causes joint pain and stiffness. Other symptoms include discolouration near the affected joints and swelling of the fingers and toes. Unlike rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis affects fewer joints.

If you have psoriasis and start experiencing joint pain, you might have psoriatic arthritis. Get in touch with a qualified doctor today at PCA. PCA’s partner doctors can give you all the information you need about this medical condition and how to manage it effectively. We can offer a custom treatment for your pain that targets the cause. 🎯

Being a spoonie means wisely managing your energy. One activity you should never forget is exercising. Exercises help you become stronger, more flexible and mobile. Here are five chair exercises 🧎 you should enjoy as a spoonie.

Seated Arnold Press – Sit at the edge of the chair, keeping your back and spine straight. Hold a dumbbell in each hand with your palms facing towards you. Press the dumbbells overhead while rotating your hands until your palms are facing outward. Lower your hands until they are back to the starting position.

Incline Pushup – This is the same as a regular pushup except that you are placing your hands on the seat of the chair to form an incline. 🪑

Seated Hip Stretch – Sit up straight on the chair. Form a triangle by crossing one leg over the other, making sure that the ankle is resting over the knee of the other leg. Lean slightly forward and hold the position for a few seconds.

Seated jacks – Sit slightly forward in a chair with knees bent and feet together. Extend your legs straight out in a V position while raising your arms upward in another V position. ☑️

Seated Lean Backs – Sit on the chair with your spine straight and feet planted on the ground. Lean your upper back towards the back of the chair. When you feel your upper back touch the backrest of the chair, engage your core to return to the starting position.

Living with chronic pain is not only about the physical struggle. It can weigh heavily on the mind until every day feels like a battle.

The latest National Pain Report shows that nearly half of spoonies have thought about su***de. Many wait years for a diagnosis, only to be dismissed or left without proper care. 💔

More than just numbers, su***de is about people losing hope, families breaking under pressure, and friends watching someone they love slip away.

Nobody should have to endure this kind of hell in silence. Remember, you’re worthy of a fulfilling life. And asking for help is not a show of weakness, but is instead a step towards relief.

This World Su***de Prevention Day, let’s remind one another that nobody should face pain alone. And if you need support that’s more tailored? Please know we’re just a chat away. 🫂

The life of a chronic pain warrior is riddled with obstacles. And the largest hurdle is your idea of yourself. 🪞✨

In order to become a complete chronic pain warrior, start by confronting the dark parts of yourself. Acknowledge your flaws, fears, and limitations. When you understand your weaknesses, you can formulate a plan to compensate for them and minimise their negative effects.

Being a chronic pain warrior is not just about facing chronic pain. It is also about facing your inner struggles. Once you have done that, you can achieve emotional and spiritual growth. As a result, you can face each day with self-compassion, strength, wisdom and kindness.

Gabapentin is an epilepsy medication that’s also used to treat nerve pain. Is Gabapentin really safe for you? 🤔

Although Gabapentin is an established medication for treating nerve pain, some are now sounding the alarm about its potential health impact after long-term use. According to information released by researchers at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and Arizona State University, people who had six or more Gabapentin prescriptions were 29% more likely to develop dementia. They are also 85% more likely to develop mild cognitive impairment or MCI within 10 years of their initial chronic pain diagnosis. However, the researchers also cautioned that they still can’t establish a solid cause-and-effect link between Gabapentin and dementia. ✅

If you’re taking Gabapentin for nerve pain and looking for an alternative, consult a licensed doctor today at Pain Clinic Australia (PCA). PCA offers safe, effective, and custom relief for chronic pain. ✨

Whenever we hear the word “courage,” we think of bold and dramatic actions. We think of people rescuing kids from burning buildings or someone climbing high mountains on a daily basis. But that’s not always the case.

Courage is also present in the little things. ✨For chronic pain warriors, courage can be about powering through the pain to complete their tasks. It can be about spending quality time with loved ones, even if you are tired. Courage is also saying no to others, so you can rest and recuperate. Courage is about prioritising your health and well-being. Finally, courage can be as simple as accepting your vulnerabilities — and learning when to seek help.

If you are suffering from chronic pain, get in touch with us today. We will help you unleash the warrior inside you so you can face each day with courage despite chronic pain. 🧡💙

Feeling drained? Your breath might just be your best-kept secret for instant calm. 🌬️

Here are some gentle breathing techniques to try when you're low on spoons:
• Pursed Lip Breathing – breathe in through your nose, then out through pursed lips to help you feel more in control.
• Focus Breath Technique – choose a calming word like “peace” or “soft” and gently breathe with it in mind.
• Box Breathing – inhale, hold, exhale, and pause for four counts each to reset your nervous system.
• 4-7-8 Breathing – breathe in for 4, hold for 7, and exhale for 8 to ease your body into rest mode.
• Humming Bee Breathing – hum softly as you breathe out to soothe tension and bring quiet to your mind.

You don’t have to do them perfectly. Just start where you are. Which one will you try first? 🌼

When the pain flares... the future can feel heavy. The past can feel loud. But the present? It’s still YOURS.

You don’t need to map out every step. You only need to return to: your breath, your body, and what’s within reach TODAY. 🌟

Even if your body aches and your thoughts feel foggy, choosing to stay with yourself in this moment is already an act of care.

Do you also ground yourself in small pauses like this? We'd love to hear how. 💖
