Many people learn how to fast.

Very few are taught how to finish the process properly.

Yet the moment food returns is when the body decides how it will respond.

This phase is often overlooked.

💚 Breaking the Fast

Not one meal.
Not one day.

But a careful 2–3 week re-entry.

After supporting people through fasting for more than 25 years, one pattern is very clear…

Most fasting problems don’t occur during the fast.
They occur when people start eating again.

Because during fasting:

🔹 The digestive system rests
🔹 Enzyme production recalibrates
🔹 Gut motility shifts
🔹 The microbiome changes

So re-feeding is not a reward.

✅ It is reconstruction.

Done well, it stabilises energy, rebuilds the gut lining and anchors the benefits of the fast.

Done poorly, it can shock the system and undo much of the repair.

Which is why breaking the fast is not an afterthought - it is part of the fast.

“Even if you’re not planning to fast, this conversation may change how you think about food after illness, stress, or digestive upset.”

“Most people are surprised by what they learn in the first 10 minutes.”

Did you know???

🍍 Pineapple is more than a sweet fruit

Pineapple contains a natural enzyme called bromelain that helps break down proteins. This is why fresh pineapple can sometimes cause a tingling sensation in the mouth - the enzyme is briefly interacting with the tissues.

Traditionally, pineapple has been used to support digestion, circulation and recovery, although large amounts or concentrated extracts may need to be used with care for some people.
Nature often hides remarkable function inside simple foods. 🍍

You fasted with discipline.
You felt clear.

Then you ate…

🧠 A simple practice that prepares the body…

After a night of rest, the body is slowly reawakening.

Beginning the day with a glass of lukewarm water can gently encourage the digestive system to resume its work and support the body’s natural morning rhythm.

Rather than rushing straight into strong stimulants, this small habit allows the system to wake gradually and begin clearing what accumulated overnight.

Simple practices like this form the foundation of many traditional approaches to health - and are often part of preparing the body for restorative fasting.

Small, consistent rhythms tend to support the body far more than dramatic changes.

💬 What is the first thing you drink in the morning?

🌿 Fasting - done wisely.

Fasting is not about deprivation or pushing the body beyond its limits.

When approached correctly, it becomes a period of physiological rest - allowing the body to pause, reset and begin clearing accumulated debris.

But something many people overlook is this:

The way you prepare for a fast… and the way you break it… determines the outcome.

Breaking a fast is not simply “eating again.”
It is a careful reintroduction of nourishment so the digestive system can gently reawaken and resume its work.

When fasting is done with respect for the body’s natural rhythms, it becomes restorative rather than stressful.

💬 Have you ever noticed the difference between forcing change… and working with your body?

When approached correctly, it becomes a period of physiological rest - allowing the body to pause, reset, and begin clearing accumulated debris.

🧘 Meditation before or after breakfast?

Do you love to sit in stillness on an empty stomach… ☀
Or do you prefer to nourish first, then centre yourself? 🍽

There’s no right or wrong - just rhythm.

Have you noticed how chopping onions brings tears to your eyes?
When cut, onions release a natural sulfur gas that rises and gently irritates your eyes. Your tears are your body’s way of protecting you.

Even this small kitchen moment reminds us how alive and sensitive we are. 🌱

💬 What small moment today made you feel alive?
