Stronger together 💪

Small group training isn’t just a workout — it’s a smarter, more motivating way to reach your goals.

Here’s why our group sessions work:

🔥 Accountability– You’re more likely to show up and push yourself when others are counting on you

👥 Support & Community– Train alongside like-minded people who encourage and lift each other up

🎯 Individualised Coaching– You still get expert guidance and technique correction, without the full 1:1 price tag

💸 Cost-Effective– Get high-quality coaching and structured programming at a more affordable price than one-on-one sessions

⚡ Motivation Boost– Energy is contagious — expect to work harder (and enjoy it more)

📈 Better Results– Consistency + coaching + community = progress that lasts

And let’s be honest… some of our long-time clients *say* they come for the training… but we know the post-session coffee and catch-up is a big part of the routine too ☕😂 (we’ll take it — because showing up is what counts!)

Whether you’re building strength, improving fitness, or just getting back into routine, small group training gives you the best of both worlds.

🚨 BIG NEWS (kind of… 😂) 🚨

We had some very special visitors drop by Fitness Success this week 👀

They heard Fitness Success is where the real results happen… and apparently even royalty isn’t above needing a good exercise physiology session 💪

Before anyone calls the tabloids — no, we’re not that fancy 🤣

Just a bit of fun… but hey, if they did come in, we’d sort them out with a proper program like everyone else!

🚨 Scans don’t always equal answers 🚨

📖 Research consistently shows that many “abnormalities” (like disc bulges, degeneration, or tears) are ALSO found in people with ZERO pain.

So what does that mean?

📸 Scans show anatomy, not the full picture

🧠 Pain is complex — it’s not just about structure. It’s a combination of biological, psychological and social (Biopsychosocial) factors.

These include:
🏋️‍♀️Exercise/ Load exposure
🕦Past experiences
🩺Existing health conditions
😫Stress/mood
😴Sleep and recovery
🍇Nutrition

🩻Does this mean scans are useless?

Absolutely not! Imaging is incredible technology that can help diagnose, show structural change over time and assist in surgical planning/intervention. They are not however a direct measure of pain or symptoms.

💡 Current best practice:

✅ Start with a thorough clinical assessment to review the big picture
✅ Focus on exercise, stress management, sleep and nutrition
✅ Use scans when red flags or serious pathology are suspected

📚 Takeaway:
“Abnormal” on a scan doesn’t automatically mean “problem.”
Your body is adaptable, resilient, and not as fragile as imaging might suggest 💪

Tomorrow one of our amazing team members, Caitlyn, is heading off to Tasmania to take part in Cycle 4 Change 2026 🚴‍♀️

This will be Caitlyn’s 6th year participating in the ride and this year she has already raised over $2,500 for an incredible cause — Southern Cross Kids’ Camps.

Southern Cross Kids’ Camps create life-changing camp experiences for children who’ve come from very tough places. Funds raised help provide supportive camps where kids can experience fun, care, encouragement and the chance to just be kids. With one-on-one “Buddy” support and a safe environment, these camps help build confidence, healing and hope for children who need it most.

This year’s ride will take the team through the incredible landscapes of Northern Tasmania. Over 4 days, riders will cover approximately 500km and climb around 7000m of elevation 😅

Starting in Devonport, the route travels through rolling farmland and vineyards in the Gunns Plains and Leven Valley, visits coastal towns like Penguin and Burnie, and tackles some serious climbs including Mount Roland (Sheffield), Cethana Road and Spellmans Hill.

If you’d like to follow along with the ride and see the course Caitlyn and the team will be tackling, here’s the link for more information:

https://sckc.org.au/fundraise/cycle4change/ (https://sckc.org.au/fundraise/cycle4change/)

And if you’d like to support Caitlyn and help raise money for these incredible kids — and also know what’s in your best interest before your next session with her 😅 — you can donate here:

Good luck Caitlyn! We’re all cheering you on from back home! 👏🚴🏼‍♀️

Wanting to get moving but don’t know where to start?
Never exercised before?
Don’t have any equipment?
Here are 5 simple exercises you can do at home to improve your strength and balance 💪

1️⃣ Sit to Stands
Sit on a chair with your feet flat on the floor. Lean slightly forward and stand up, then slowly sit back down with control.

2️⃣ Wall Push Ups
Place your hands on a wall at shoulder height. Bend your elbows to bring your chest toward the wall, then push back to the starting position.

3️⃣ Calf Raises
Stand tall holding onto a chair or bench for balance. Lift your heels off the ground so you are standing on your toes, then slowly lower back down.

4️⃣ Seated Leg Extensions
Sit tall in a chair. Straighten one knee to lift your foot out in front of you, then slowly lower it back down. Repeat on the other side.

5️⃣ Tandem Walking
Walk in a straight line placing one foot directly in front of the other, heel to toe, as if walking on a tightrope.
It’s a good idea to do this down your hallway or next to your kitchen bench in case you lose balance and need something close by to grab.

Try completing 3 sets of 10 repetitions of each exercise.⏰

If you have any aches or pains, it’s best to come in for an assessment and personalised exercise program with one of our Exercise Physiologists.

And if these exercises feel too easy or too challenging, our team at Fitness Success can help tailor a program specifically for you and your goals.

Have Fun! ⭐️

Happy International Women’s Day 🤍🌍

Today we celebrate the achievements of women everywhere — in sport, in science, in health, and beyond.

Women have been historically been underrepresented in research and often excluded from studies that shape exercise training and recovery guideline’s. Yet female physiology is powerful, complex, and worthy of being understood — not overlooked.

From menstrual cycle informed training to supporting women through pregnancy, postpartum, perimenopause, and beyond, evidence-based care working with your body rather than against is essential.

Strong looks different on every woman. And every woman deserves access to research, advice and healthcare that reflects her physiology.

Here’s to closing the research gap, challenging outdated narratives, and empowering women to train, move, and live with confidence!💪🏋️‍♀️🤸‍♀️

Training hard but not seeing any progress in strength, pain or fitness?

Don’t call it quits, you might just need to change your approach! ⬇️

❌ No progressive overload?

If your weights, reps, sets or intensity never increase, your body has no reason to adapt.

Same work = same result

❌ Poor recovery & Under fueling

Not eating enough, less then 7-9 hours sleep, high stress levels or poor food choices are the cornerstones of recovery.

Muscle and fitness are built outside the gym- not during the workout. 💪

❌ Constant Pain after workouts

You’re only strong enough to lift a load your body can recover from. The body is clever and holds onto past injuries and pain as a protective mechanism.

Slowly expose your body to stress, slow and steady wins the race.

❌ Too much intensity, not enough consistency

Sometimes the best work outs are the ones we don’t do. We like to think of exercise like a bank account- every work out puts $1 in the bank.. exhausting yourself once a week and needing the rest of the week to recover vs appropriately paced sessions 3-4 times per week gets that bank account up considerably faster! 💵

Small changes in load, volume and progression and recovery can completely change how your body responds to training. If you’re not sure what to adjust, you don’t have to guess. We help people do this every day.

Get in touch and let’s see how we can work with you towards your goals 📞📱

💡 What is an Exercise Physiologist?💡

An Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP) is a university-qualified health professional who uses exercise as medicine 🏋️‍♀️🏃🚴🏼‍♀️🏊

We design safe, evidence-based movement programs to help people move better, feel stronger and live more independently.

👥 Who do we work with?

Everyone. From people who are healthy but want to stay that way, to those living with chronic, complex or long-term conditions, disability, or age-related changes.

What we specialise in:
✅Tailored exercise programs
✅Long-term management of chronic & complex conditions
✅Improving function, strength, mobility & confidence

💊Exercise is medicine for conditions like:
Heart disease
Cancer
Chronic pain
Musculoskeletal injuries
Osteoporosis & arthritis
Neurological conditions (Parkinson’s, MS, dementia)
Neurodiversity (ASD)
…and more

🎓 Our qualifications:
• Undergraduate degree in Exercise & Sport Science
• Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology
• Accredited through ESSA, with ongoing professional development to ensure safe, up-to-date, evidence-based care

📍 Where do AEPs work?
Private practice (like us here at Fitness Success 👋), hospitals, gyms, schools, home care and aged care settings.

🤔 When should you see an AEP?
• Recovering from injury or surgery
• Managing chronic pain, arthritis or back pain
• Wanting to improve strength, balance or mobility as you age
• Rehabilitation for heart, metabolic or neurological conditions

AEP vs Physio — what’s the difference?
Physios often focus on acute injury diagnosis and manual therapy.
AEPs focus on long-term, functional exercise programs to support ongoing health, independence and quality of life.

✨ If you’ve ever thought “I think exercise will help, but I don’t know what’s safe for me” — that’s where we come in.
