Navigating your NDIS plan can sometimes feel like solving a puzzle, but we’re here to help clear things up! 🧩

A common question we’re hearing as we move through 2026 is: "What’s the actual difference between Capacity Building and Community Participation?"

Think of it this way: Capacity Building is about building your skills. It’s the therapy and training that helps you gain independence. Community Participation is about using those skills to get out there and live your life: whether that’s joining a local club, visiting the shops, or catching up with friends.

At Nurturing Hands, we focus on the skill-building side. Our team works directly under the guidance of your Allied Health Professionals (like your Physio, OT, or Speech Pathologist) to deliver therapy right where you are: at home, school, or work. We help you bridge that gap so you have the confidence to smash those community goals! 🌟

Looking for mental health support? Our psychosocial counselling is offered exclusively via Telehealth, so you can connect from wherever you feel most comfortable.

Ever feel like you’re on a roller coaster with your energy? 🎢 One day you’re getting everything done, and the next, you’re stuck on the couch for three days. We call this the "boom-bust" cycle, and it’s incredibly exhausting!

When managing chronic pain or fatigue, "pacing" is your best friend. It’s not about doing less forever; it’s about doing things differently so you can do more over time.

Here’s a simple framework to try at home:
✅ The 50% Rule: Stop when you feel like you still have 50% of your energy left. Don’t wait until you’re at 0%.
✅ Rest Before You Need To: A 10-minute quiet break every hour can prevent a crash later.
✅ Micro-Tasks: Instead of cleaning the whole kitchen, just do the cutlery. Small wins lead to big progress!

Our team at Nurturing Hands works directly under the guidance of your Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist to help you practice these steps in your own home or workplace. We also coordinate closely with your support workers to ensure your whole team is moving in the same direction.

Whether you're using NDIS or TAC funding, we’re here to help you reach your goals safely.

Communication is so much more than just the words we speak. 🗣️✨

At Nurturing Hands, we know that for many kids, connecting with the world happens through a variety of ways: whether it’s using AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) devices, gestures, or visual supports. Our goal is to help every child find their "voice," in whatever form that takes!

We work directly under the guidance of your child’s Speech Pathologist to bring therapy to where life happens: at home or in the classroom. This focus on "carryover" ensures your child gets consistent support in their natural environment, helping them build confidence and independence every day. 🏠🏫

Our team offers mobile visits to schools and homes, as well as telehealth options to suit your schedule. We’re all about making the most of your NDIS or TAC funding through a truly collaborative approach.

Note: While our speech support is mobile, our psychosocial counseling services are offered exclusively via telehealth.

Hey everyone! 👋 Navigating NDIS funding can feel like a bit of a puzzle, but we’re here to help you put the pieces together. 🧩

When it comes to your plan review, having the right evidence is key to keeping your supports moving forward. One of the best strategies is knowing exactly what to ask your therapist so your progress is clear and measurable!

Next time you see your team, here are a few simple things to ask for:
✅ Goal Tracking: “How are we tracking against my specific NDIS goals this quarter?”
✅ Simple Measures: “Can we use a simple score or checklist to show my functional improvement?”
✅ Evidence of Need: “What specific tasks do I still need help with to reach my next milestone?”

At Nurturing Hands, our team works closely under the guidance of your Allied Health Professional: like your Physiotherapist, Speech Pathologist, or Occupational Therapist: to make sure every session counts. We’re all about documenting those wins to support your funding journey. 🏠✨

Friendly reminder: our Psychosocial counselling is offered exclusively via Telehealth.

We’re in this together! Let’s make sure your evidence speaks for your success.

Is your morning routine feeling a bit more like a morning marathon? 🏃‍♂️☕️ We know how busy and stressful getting ready for the day can be for families and NDIS/TAC participants.

One of our favorite OT-approved tips for building independence is using a simple visual schedule! 🗓️ Whether it’s photos of the steps (brush teeth, get dressed, eat breakfast) or a clear checklist, having a visual guide helps reduce anxiety and empowers your loved one to take charge of their morning.

At Nurturing Hands Allied Health, we believe in making therapy practical and functional. Our team works closely under the guidance of your Occupational Therapist to help implement these strategies right where they matter most, in your home, school, or workplace! 🏠🏫

Our mobile service means we bring the support to you, maximizing your funding and focusing on those unique goals that make daily life easier.

(Please note: While our therapy programs are mobile, our psychosocial counselling is offered exclusively via telehealth.)

Ready to make your mornings a little smoother? We’re here to help!

Getting the most out of your NDIS plan shouldn’t feel like a puzzle! 🧩 One of our favorite ways to help families make their funding work harder in 2026 is by using Allied Health Assistants (AHAs) for between-session support.

By incorporating an AHA into your routine, you can keep the momentum going with regular home programs without exhausting your budget. Our AHAs work closely under the guidance of your Speech Pathologist, Occupational Therapist, or Physiotherapist to ensure every session stays on track with your goals. It’s all about consistency and making therapy a natural part of your week! 🏠✨

Whether it’s practicing communication or working on mobility at home, school, or work, we’re here to bridge the gap between specialist appointments.

Friendly reminder: our Psychosocial Counselling is offered exclusively via telehealth to keep things flexible for you. 💻

Reach out if you’d like to chat about how we can support your journey!

💡 Quick tip: Always check with your Support Coordinator, Plan Manager, or Clinician to see how this strategy fits your specific plan.

Had a car accident and dealing with TAC? Here’s something many people don’t realise: physiotherapy is often covered in the first 90 days after your injury (and it may not need prior approval in that early stage).

A few things to know:
• Start early where you can: early physio can help pain, mobility and confidence
• Keep receipts + session notes (your physio will help with the right paperwork)
• If your symptoms change or you’re not improving, tell your GP/physio ASAP
• After the early period, TAC may request a treatment plan/reports for ongoing sessions

We can support you with mobile physiotherapy (we come to your home, school or workplace) and we work with and under the guidance of your treating Allied Health Professional to keep everyone on the same page.

Want your NDIS therapy supports to go further without cutting corners?

Allied Health Assistants (AHAs) can be a great way to build more practice into your week, while still staying connected to your therapy plan.

Here’s how it works at Nurturing Hands:
• Your Physiotherapist, OT or Speech Pathologist sets the goals + program
• An AHA supports regular practice sessions (exercises, routines, skill-building)
• Your clinician provides ongoing oversight, progress checks + plan updates

Why families love the AHA model:
• More consistent practice = better carryover into real life
• Frees up clinician time for reviews, complex problem-solving + goal progression
• Often a cost-effective way to increase therapy “touch points” across the plan

If you’d like to chat about whether an AHA could support your goals (home, school or workplace), send us a message or visit https://nurturing-hands.com.au

Note: Our psychosocial counselling is offered exclusively via telehealth.

When therapy is truly holistic, it’s not “4 separate appointments”… it’s 1 coordinated plan.

At Nurturing Hands Allied Health, our Physio, OT, Speech Pathology and Psychosocial support work together (with and under the guidance of your treating Allied Health Professional) so everyone is aiming for the same goals.

What that can look like:
• Physio builds strength, balance and confidence
• OT turns those gains into everyday independence (home, school, work)
• Speech supports communication, swallowing and social participation
• Psychosocial counselling (telehealth only) supports wellbeing, motivation and coping strategies

It’s especially helpful for NDIS and TAC participants, because a shared plan can mean clearer progress, less repetition, and better use of your funded sessions.

Want a team that actually talks to each other and keeps your goals front and centre? Send us a message and we’ll talk next steps.
