One of my favourite things about driving around to do home visits, is finding all of the little stalls that sell flowers and home-made things!! can you spot my favourite flower?

2025 you have been epic!

I have loved most of it!
So excited to do it again next year with a little less busy 🤣(who am I kidding)

Thank you Women and Families, you are incredible and I am so honoured to do this with you

I hope you all have a glorious Christmas and can’t wait to start 2026 births (next year 🫣)

Do you know that most home birth transfers happen for non-urgent/non emergency reasons? Things like slow labor progress (which can lead to exhaustion), exhaustion, or pain relief (usually an epidural). In my practice, as long as things are going well, (mom and baby's vital signs are within normal limits), it is the parents decision to make the call to transfer.

Sometimes, as midwives, we roar the loudest for the women we care for — standing strong, fierce and unwavering. 🐊💚
But when it comes to advocating for ourselves… many of us turn into tiny, polite kittens. 😺

This is your gentle reminder that your voice matters too.
Your wellbeing, your working conditions, your boundaries, your professional needs — all worthy of the same fierce advocacy you give others every day.

Let’s keep supporting women with heart and courage…
and let’s start doing the same for ourselves. 💛

You deserve it, truly.

Home Birth with independent Private Midwives is increasing in SA. Which means Primary Midwives need more second Midwives!
We would love to hear from registered or endorsed Midwives who want to step into the space of private homebirth in a supportive, collaborative way.

I am frequently asked about transfers: why, how, and when. In my experience, there are only a few occasions when it’s an emergency; many are calm and coordinated. Women choosing to birth at home are supported to transfer when it’s needed or wanted. Hospitals can play an important role in planning a safe home birth, and women and their midwives can determine the need for a safe transfer. Almost always, they are welcomed into the hospital system with kindness and respect for the woman and her team.
