THE WEAKENING
The weakening happens slowly, unconsciously.
When we mindlessly grab for the phone,
For a fix of digital dopamine.
When we eat for distraction.
Not hunger.
When we sit.
All day long. Staring with dry eyes.
Sacrificing dreams, ambition and adventure…
for money, safety or security.
The weakening happens without us knowing.
When we think strengthening our immune system is taking a shot, potion or pill.
When we forget that true health is a healthy body, full of sunshine, clean water, colorful foods and renewing emotions.
The weakening happens when we become victims to our thoughts.
The thoughts that pull us down, make us sad and anxious, resentful.
We rinse and repeat them.
Unconscious of their weakening effect.
The weakening happens when we numb our emotions.
"Feel them?….. No! I don't want to feel them!!!"
Turn the other way.
Take a drink, take a t**e, have a smoke, eat, stare at a screen….weakening.
The weakening happens when we stop talking.
Eating dinner alone in front of the damned screen.
Family members in their rooms. Doing the same.
Eating, staring, numbing.
The weakening happens when we let fear rule us.
When fear makes our decisions for us.
"I'd love to do that but" Fear. Fear. Fear. Hisses in your ear.
"Oh, maybe another day…."
The weakening happens when we forget to breathe.
When we breathe shallow, fearful breaths all day.
When we have long forgotten the renewing power of long, slow & deep breaths.
The weaking is a subtle process.
Seemingly normal to the naked eye.
But once you see it.
It can't be unseen.
