Currimundi Family Doctors will be back to normal opening hours Monday 10th March after Cyclone Alfred.

Our practice will be closed this Thursday 6th of March and Friday 7th of March, as Cyclone Alfred is expected to make landfall. Safety for our team and patients is our number one priority.

We will be adding extra availability to help patients get access to a doctor, and if you need to get in contact with us after hours, please use the facebook messenger service on our page. We will endeavour to attend to anything urgent as we are able.

Reception will make contact to reschedule appointments, or if you have the hotdocs app, please use that to reschedule, so that our phone lines do not get overwhelmed.

We are watching the unfolding cyclone situation very closely.

Safety for our team & patients is our highest priority and we are preparing for possible practice closures on Thursday & Friday this week as/if the cyclone hits our shore. If you have a non-urgent appointment please consider moving it to the next week or so. We will advise patients on facebook, google, our website & via SMS if we are forced to close.

We will be looking to add extra availability to make up appointments with extra services once the cyclone has passed.

Currimundi Doctors is thrilled to announce that Dr Shen Lu has joined our team and is starting this Monday 3rd March!

After multiple years working for the Sunshine Coast Hospital & Health Services before specialising in General Practice, Dr Shen joins the team of Currimundi Family Doctors and will be taking on new & existing patients.

Dr Shen Lu is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners with a strong focus on holistic patient care. He graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2019, working across Redcliffe and the Sunshine Coast for the last few years before transitioning into General Practice. Dr Shen is interested in all areas of medicine, with a particular interest in palliative care, paediatrics and women’s health.

Outside of work, he is a keen basketball player, avid traveler and snowboarder. He enjoys cooking, reading and playing the guitar.

A big welcome back to Dr Claire!

With her paediatric training, Dr Claire’s focus at Currimundi Family Doctors is in helping children, especially children with special needs. She is passionate in helping with developmental, learning and behavioural issues. Dr Claire works closely with Paediatricians to continue her professional development and stay on trend with the latest treatments for special needs children.

This well awaited service aims to streamline and co-ordinate care of high needs children with developmental, learning and behavioural issues between their GP, Paediatricians, Allied Health professionals and other support services.

Dr Claire graduated from the University of Queensland in Brisbane and has worked at the Gold Coast Hospital, Townsville General Hospital & Royal Children’s Hospital in Brisbane before moving into General Practice.

Dr Claire was successful in achieving a Paediatric training position at the Royal Children’s Hospital, Brisbane and spent 3 years working in Paediatrics before becoming a General Practitioner.

Dr Claire & Currimundi Family Doctors are happy to be able to make a positive change in the treatment and care of children & their families.
