“Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.”

Time to check in and not allow our habits to be mindless in order to improve.

Creating HABITS: No behaviour happens in isolation, each action becomes a cue that triggers the next behaviour.

It’s so cool to learn how we can make or break habits that shape us!

Becoming the best version of yourself requires you to continuously edit your beliefs and upgrade and expand your identity.

Mindfulness - the quality or state of being conscious of something. Our physical well being relies on the ability to be mindful of our bodies. Once we are aware of our bodies and how we behave, then we can begin to understand how it shapes us.

Whilst we at MPPSC don’t believe we need mediation etc for this to occur, we believe that being able to understand the state of being of our body is crucial.

Understanding enables us to listen to our bodies and have the ability to improve/alter/change our behaviours. This process of improvement through awareness ultimately optimises our function leading to improved physical well being. Remember our behaviour is what creates how we feel

Habits are not always good habits

Being able to re-tension our “pulley system” is a key part of of being able to behave and move better.

As we know, our behaviour and habits shape us.

We also understand that changing our behaviour will take time. The abiltiy to create good habits can take around 10 weeks.

So within this period of time we need to work more on re-tensioning to firstly improve our muscles resting lengths along withth an improvement in the “stacking” of our joints into better more “neutral” positions.

This will help to reset us im better starting postures whilst we work towards improving our behaviour or function which in turn leads to prevention.

Trigger point release or myofascial release is the answer, but how does this work?

More on this next time.

Building a network helps with the quality of healthcare that is provided. I had an amazing visit from Coastal Medical & Specialist Women’s Imaging Centre. Great to chat to a team who also has the clients health as a priority. Having the client as the focus !

We need to look after our bodies better, learn to behave better and be better.

This is a nice analogy that continues on from an earlier post about a car and how it ages relative to its use.

Imagine if you were told that you could have any car in the world and the price didn’t matter. What would you choose?

Now imagine if you were then told that this was going to be the only car you own in your lifetime, you will never have the chance to buy another car. Would your answer change?

Well, it doesn’t matter what car you choose, it comes down to how you look after it. How you drive it. How you maintain it. How you store it. What fuel you use. The list goes on.

Now imagine the car is your body. We definitely only get one and it ages exactly the same way as your car. It depends on how we move it, how we use it and how we fuel it. Therefore we need to learn how to look after our body better to maintain our function and quality of life.

Stumbled on to Neilpot Coffee at the Caloundra Markets. The owner also believed in barefeet and that wearing shoes was being over dressed. He also had the idea of a few shots of coffee into a coconut 🥥

Crazy times 💡

But with the coconut brings extra electrolytes and it did remind of the need to hydrate.

Many of us don’t hydrate our bodies well. Dehydration has a big impact on our body and can cause poor energy levels, poor body temperature regulation, poor cellular function, muscle / soft tissue tightness, aches, and pains and even dizziness.

Remember we are over 50% water so a little and often sip of water will improve how we function. Easiest way to check your hydration is to check your p*e, the clearer and less yellow the better.

What is the best way to improve your posture??? To start with we need to establish what is considered good posture.

Basically our posture is best when we are able absorb gravity efficiently and effectively. Gravity is creating downward force on our body or what is termed longitudinal compression. So theoretically the longer our spine is the better we are equipped to withstand this pressure.

The best place to start is in lying, where gravity is helping us to lengthen our spine. If we are able lie flat then we are going to be better able to stand straight.

A simple rolled towel under the crease of our butt (extension block) will create a posterior tilt of our pelvis or more simply, flatten our back. This will also cause better extension of our middle back (thoracic spine) and neck(cervical spine). Ultimately this lengthens our spine.

We will be more detailed on future posts, but once we have obtained the ability to lie flat then we will therefore be able to stand with a straighter spine. A straighter spine is spring-like and better equipped to absorb the force of gravity.

How do we learn more about our bodies? How do we understand more about our bodies ? Where do I go to do this ??

Unfortunately in this day and age we have unlimited access to information but as we know, not all information is good information.

Interestingly we initially learn the most from our immediate family. We learn how to listen to pain, how to move our body and who to seek help from when our bodies are in pain. Unfortunately we are usually attaining knowledge that may not be the best for us in the long run.

For example I commonly hear from clients that there is a genetic predisposition to back pain. The Mum and Dad and even their Mum or Dad have back pain, so they believe when they have back pain that genetics are at fault.

Whilst at times this can be true, it usually is associated with something that we can control m - the way we move and how we behave in our environment.

We are the best at emoting our parents when we are a child. So any poor patterning is being imprinted on us at a young age. Therefore the patterns creating issues are common across the generations, not that we are genetically made wrong.

At MPP we are encouraging people to look at their behaviours and we can learn how to behave better and BE BETTER. Allow our bodies amazing healing powers to do their thing.
