A Survey of Australian Shamanic Healing: Training Backgrounds, Healing Interventions, and Attitudes Toward Mental Health Professions

You are invited to participate in the research project described below.

What is the project about?
This research project is about the use of contemporary shamanic healing for mental health. Specifically, the study is exploring the training Australian shamanic practitioners have undertaken to become healers along with the interventions they use when providing shamanic healings for emotional and mental health problems. The study also explores practitioners' personal mental health experiences and attitudes towards mainstream mental health service providers such as general practitioners, psychiatrists, and psychologists.

Outside forces have redirected me many times, the impact alone has almost cracked me at times but I remain whole

Shine bright

When you naturally attract attention without even trying, be careful. That kind of light, so effortless and genuine, doesn’t just draw admiration. It also stirs up envy in the hearts of those still searching for their own shine.

Not everyone who claps for you is truly happy for you. Some are watching, waiting, for you to dim, for you to slip. And the hardest part? You didn’t ask for this spotlight. You were just being yourself. Just showing up with your heart wide open, your spirit unfiltered, your presence undeniable.

So guard your peace. Protect your energy. Stay kind, but don’t be naive. Because when you carry a rare kind of light, you’ll notice that some people will try to shade it, simply because they can’t figure out how to find their own.

But don’t shrink.

Let them stare. Let them whisper. Let them wonder how you glow the way you do.

Keep shining anyway.
