Most people have heard that probiotics are good for your gut, but not many actually know what they do. You see them everywhere, in drinks, gummies and supermarket shelves, but the truth is not all probiotics are made equal.
A probiotic is made up of the good bacteria that already live in your gut. They help with digestion, bloating, energy and even mood. When your gut bacteria are balanced, you feel better. When they’re not, you might notice sluggish digestion, fatigue or that general off feeling you can’t quite put your finger on.
The problem is, a lot of supermarket probiotics don’t do what they claim. They often use generic strains that aren’t clinically tested or strong enough to survive stomach acid. Some add sugar or fillers to make them taste better, but they don’t deliver real results.
That’s why I only recommend practitioner-grade probiotics like Metagenics. They’re research-backed, high quality and designed to reach the gut alive.
As a chiropractor, I look at the body as one connected system. Your gut affects inflammation, recovery and even your nervous system. So when we work on your spine and your overall health, your gut is a big part of that picture.
If you’re already taking a probiotic, check what’s in it. Look for transparency about the strains and evidence to back them. Your gut deserves better than a quick fix in a bottle.
