Do you ever scroll back through your phone camera feed and get a shock at how much you have seen or done over the year?
Sometimes when we are in the daily grind, and life seems to be a series of Groundhog Days, it's easy to forget the moments that have given us joy.
I love photography, I always have. I remember in high school my friends being shocked that I didn't sign up for photography class, instead I signed up for manual arts. Looking back now, it may not have been the brightest move, but I knew more boys would take manual arts, so I did too 🤭 Truth is, I aced manual arts, and I actually loved it! However, it leaves me now having to learn the photography skills I should have learnt years ago.
As I scroll back through my photos, I not only see skill progression, but some of the most amazing things and moments. In the past year or so I have photographed my first comet, many auroras, Milky Way scenes, ghost mushrooms and more. I have photos of my gorgeous boy growing and changing, friends new and old, and so many magic moments in, on and near the ocean 💙
A couple minutes scroll through my photo gallery is a kaleidoscope of colour and memories, and lifts me up when I am feeling emotionally and mentally drained. If you're feeling a bit flat or drained, have a scroll through your photos, and find one photo that gives you a lift. Make a favourites folder and add that photo in. That gives you a quick pick me up up any time you need it 🥰
Now quick story, I have to thank my crazy, wonderful photography friend (who lets me phone her at 2.30am to say grab your camera, we're on!!) for this photo. It was taken on 2nd January this year at 1.29am. I had packed to leave, but the aurora kicked off again, and my friend just couldn't drag herself away. So I balanced my phone on the bitumen and took a couple quick pics, and this was the result 🤩 Sometimes the unplanned moments are the best!
