We are excited to inform that Dr Ramesh Banduwardene has joined our team this week.

General Practitioner
Dr Ramesh’s appointments are available on Monday and Tuesday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm starting on February 10, 2025.

Dr Ramesh Banduwardene, graduated with the degree of Doctor of Medicine from the prestigious Pavlov State Medical University, St Petersburg, Russia in the year 2000.

He has worked as a Mental Health doctor in Sri Lanka including in the Military Hospital, prior to arriving in Australia in 2006.

From 2006 to 2008, he worked for Queensland Health as a Principal House Officer in Psychiatry and for Eastern Health in Victoria as a Psychiatry Registrar.

During this time, he was able to gain experience in treating mental health patients in both acute and non-acute inpatient and outpatient settings.

He has experience working as a Psychiatry Registrar in the Crisis Assessment and Treatment Team (CATT) at Eastern Health, Melbourne Victoria and the Acute Care Team at Queensland Health in Logan, Queensland.

Since 2009, Dr Ramesh has been working in General Practice with a Special interest in Mental Health, having undergone RACGP training in Drug and Alcohol treatment as well.

He gained General Registration with the Australian Medical Council and was admitted to the Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2012.

A member of the Australian Society of Psychological Medicine, Dr Ramesh is qualified and authorized as a Level 2 Mental Health Practitioner in Focused Psychological Strategies/FPS Skills with ability to provide Psychotherapy to referred patients.

He currently works as a Specialist GP in the Southeastern Suburbs of Melbourne, VIC.

Aside from work, he is also a huge fan of Country Music.

Languages spoken in addition to English: Sinhalese and Russian.
