September 10th is World Su***de Prevention Day, a time to come together and recommit to our shared goal of preventing su***de and spreading hope.

This year's theme, 'Changing the Narrative on Su***de,' challenges us to shift from silence and stigma to openness, empathy, and action. It’s a call to ensure those who are struggling feel heard, supported, and connected.

In Australia, su***de remains the leading cause of death among people aged 15–44. We know that behind every statistic is a story. By changing the conversation, we can help create a future where more lives are saved and more stories are shared.

If you or someone you know needs support, you can connect with headspace Dandenong, or other resources like Lifeline (13 11 14), Beyond Blue (1300 224 636), or the Su***de Call Back Service (1300 659 467).

In case of emergency please call 000 for assistance.

1 in 10 people in Australia will experience an eating disorder in their lifetime, yet less than a quarter of people have referred someone they're concerned about to support services. During Body Image and Eating Disorder Awareness Week ( ), September 1-7, we're working to change this.

Eating disorders affect over 1.1 million Australians in any given year, and the numbers are on the rise. We can all play a part in providing better support. This , learn to spot the signs and understand the causes of eating disorders, so we can challenge the stigma and help those who are struggling to get the help they need.

It's Body Image and Eating Disorder Awareness Week ( 1-7 September) and it's time we expanded our understanding of why eating disorders develop and how to access support.
With over 1.1 million people in Australia experiencing an eating disorder in any given year, understanding why these illnesses develop allows us to provide better support. ‘Unpacking the Why’ builds empathy for the many people whose experiences of an eating disorder may lead them to feel ‘invisible’ behind common stereotypes, because it’s not always body image related – eating disorders can emerge due to a range of other influences, including (but not limited to) trauma, sensory sensitivities, genetics, personality traits, culture, family history, and co-occurring health conditions such as diabetes, endometriosis and others.
No matter how the eating disorder developed, recovery is possible, and organisations like are here to help.
Find out more about by heading to www.butterfly.org.au/biedaw or for confidential and free support, connect with the Butterfly National Helpline by calling 1800 ED HOPE (1800 33 4673) or visit www.butterfly.org.au to chat online or email, 7 days a week, 8am-midnight (AEST).

Eating disorders are so much more than what we see on the surface. They're complex mental illnesses, not a choice or a phase. This year's theme for Body Image and Eating Disorders Awareness Week, "Unpacking the Why," is all about looking deeper.

It's a reminder that there's never just one cause. Instead, eating disorders develop from a combination of biological, psychological, and social factors. By understanding the "why," we can challenge stereotypes and build empathy for those whose experiences might feel invisible.

Let's use this week to expand our knowledge, foster empathy, and learn how to better support those who are struggling.

It's the first week of September, which means it's Body Image and Eating Disorder Awareness Week ( )! This is a national campaign led by Australia's leading eating disorder organisations, including Butterfly Foundation, Australia and New Zealand Academy for Eating Disorders (ANZAED), Eating Disorders Victoria, Eating Disorders Queensland, Eating Disorders Families Australia and the National Eating Disorder Collaboration all working together to raise awareness about body image concerns and eating disorders.

This week is a reminder that we all have a part to play in creating a more compassionate and understanding world. Let's listen, learn, and support each other.

It's a misconception that loneliness means you're alone. Loneliness is that subjective, often distressing, feeling when your current relationships don't meet your social needs. It's something many people experience, and it can have a real impact on your well-being. At headspace Dandenong, we understand.

If you feel like you're struggling to make connections and need support, reach out to headspace Dandenong. We're here to listen and help you find ways to connect. We're here to help you make moments matter.

This Homelessness Week 2025, headspace Dandenong stands in solidarity with those affected by the housing crisis.

-Homelessness is a result of decades of underinvestment in social and affordable housing.
-Over 600,000 affordable rental homes are needed in Australia.
-Housing alone isn't enough — mental health care, disability support, and family violence services are crucial.

We can end homelessness by investing in solutions that work. This includes fully funding homelessness services, building more social housing, lifting income support, and ensuring early intervention and ongoing support.

Join us in calling for the investment needed to ensure every young person has a path back to stability.
