Recently, our Counselling Unit Manager, Julie retired from KRC. Here are some words from our Service Manager Wendy on the impact and wisdom left behind by Julie.
We would like to offer our grateful thanks to Julie, our Counselling Unit Manager, who has recently retired from KRC. Julie has worked at KRC for over 7 years and has brought a passion for providing quality care to the clients of KRC and in particular has led improvements in how we work with Aboriginal clients and clients from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
She was the driving force behind KRC getting an Aboriginal Counselling position and working to include culture in our consultations. Julie has a strong background in drug and alcohol counselling and has passed this on at KRC. She recognised the need for more counselling services in the south of our Local Health District and has developed and built the successful counselling service at KRC South. Julie also introduced consumers onto our interview panels and was always looking for ways to increase the voice of KRC consumers.
Personally Julie has been a wonderful colleague, mentor and manager, always checking in on others to see that they are okay. She has supported her staff to work, develop and debrief and been an advocate for the counselling role within and outside of KRC. She has demonstrated courage, integrity and care and she will be sadly missed. We wish her all the best in her retirement.
Thank you Julie for everything. You will be greatly missed. ๐
