Kirketon Road Centre

Kirketon Road Centre Gadigal Country KRC is a health care service that provides free and anonymous care to people who experience barriers to accessing health care. What's our story?

KRC opened in 1987 at a time when it was clear that existing clinics and healthcare services were not well adapted to the needs of certain groups of people in the area. We believe that healthcare is a basic human right and that some populations have poorer access to healthcare. We are funded to provide services to:

1. People who inject drugs or are experiencing drug related harms
2. Sex workers
3. People experiencing homelessness
4. At-risk young people under 25, experiencing any of the above
5. People in urgent need of sexual health or HIV/Hepatitis care

Today, 4 February, is World Cancer Day - and it’s also a reminder that prevention matters.

Did you know blood borne viruses like hepatitis C and HIV can increase the risk of certain cancers if left untreated?

Untreated hepatitis C can lead to liver cancer, but hep C is curable and treatment is free in Australia.

Living with HIV? Staying on treatment and connected to care can greatly reduce cancer risk and protect your long-term health.

Getting tested, treated, and supported is one of the best things you can do for your future health. We also have some programs that may help support you to get tested!

KRC can help with BBV testing, treatment, and ongoing care - no judgement, no Medicare card needed.

This year marks 10 years of KRC attending and celebrating Yabun, one of the most significant cultural gatherings on the national calendar.

Over the past decade, KRC, MSIC and Wayside have come together to celebrate Aboriginal achievements and to honour Indigenous culture, survival and resistance affirming that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples remain strong and deeply connected to Country.

Yabun brings First Nations peoples and allies together to honour history, acknowledge loss, and celebrate the ongoing survival, strength and excellence of First Nations communities.

We warmly invite you to join us at Yabun Festival on Monday 26/01.

KRC will be open from 10am-1.30pm, only for OAT and NSP Services.

See you at Yabun!
