We had the pleasure of hosting Rachel Kroes the CEO of the NT Down Syndrome Association, and Angela Van Roden clinical psychologist, who spoke to our team of behaviour practitioners about the journey of disability parenting, understanding key elements of disability and health to inform practice as a practitioner, and the importance of creating BSPs that are appropriate for a persons goals across their lifespan.

We are incredibly grateful for your time today- thanks Angela and Rachel! 🙏🙏

✅ New Office – We’ve officially moved into our new space at 116 Coonawarra Road, providing an even better environment for our team and the people we support.

✅ Growing Team – A warm welcome to our four new practitioners: Jess, Petua, Faith, and Sarah! We’re also strengthening our leadership team with Lena (Clinical Lead), Lydia (Policy & Compliance), Robyn (Administration Manager), and Oby & Niki (Team Leaders)—ensuring strong guidance and support for our services.

✅ Quality & Compliance – Today, we successfully completed our NDIS Stage 2 Recertification Audit with no major non-conformities—demonstrating our commitment to high standards and best practices.

It’s been a busy few months as we continue to invest in clinical systems and improvements. We are accepting referrals and excited to collaborate with participants and stakeholders across NT and WA.

We have had our Director Alana, Clinical Lead Lena Martin, and Team Leaders Niki Flack and Oby Ativie attend the Flinders clinical supervision course and the feedback has been so positive!

At Positive Practices we take a learning and development approach to our service and are deeply committed to upskilling ourselves, and also supporting our practitioners to be able to implement the science of PBS, ensuring they have extensive supervision and support to provide a quality service to our participants.

Look at all these smiling faces from our first Clinical Supervision Workshop in 2025😇

Held across our five NT campuses, this workshop is ideal for health professionals who want to gain skills and knowledge to better incorporate the clinical supervision of learners into their work.👩‍⚕️🧑‍🏫👨‍🔬

We’re excited to showcase the fantastic starter kit of visuals created by Niki for one of our participants! 🎉 This comprehensive set includes:

Emotional Regulation Strategies Board: Helping individuals manage and express their emotions effectively.

Visual Schedules Board: Providing clear, visual daily routines to support understanding and predictability.

First Then and First Then Next: Simple, visual instructions to help with task sequencing and transitions.

BSP on a Page: A concise Behaviour Support Plan overview for easy reference.

Behaviour Chain: Breaking down complex behaviours into manageable steps.

Pocket IRP Starter Kit: Portable resources for Immediate Response Plans, ensuring support is always at hand.

These high-quality resources are designed to enhance communication and support positive behaviour, making everyday interactions smoother and more effective.

Our PBS practitioners work closely with speech pathologists wherever possible, assess the skills and abilities of the person, and develop these resources to match the individual’s needs.

While our PBS practitioners assist with implementation, it’s essential that teams and families support the person by using these resources consistently across daily routines to ensure their success. 🌟
