On International Day of the Midwife, the NT Multiple Births Club would like to extend their thanks to the beautiful Midwives who support families to welcome twins, triplets, quads and more and support them through their early parenting journey.

Our multiple birth community wants to say thank you too all the Midwives who played a vital role in our journey bringing our twins, triplets, quadruplets and more in to the world.

And a thank you to the midwives and nurses who volunteer with us to support their community.

Hello everyone,

Exciting news! There are several grant opportunities available that could bring much-needed funding to our club. To make the most of this, I'd love to hear your ideas on how we could best utilise these funds.

Thinking back to those early days in the NICU/SCN, I wondered if cafe vouchers or meal deliveries from a local caterer would have been helpful. We've also talked about creating a loan program for useful equipment. What specific items would be beneficial?

For parents of older twins, your insights are especially valuable! Where have you found you needed extra support as your twins grew?

Let's brainstorm together and get some strong grant applications submitted. Your input is crucial!

Thanks,

Georgie

Hi members,

I am excited to bring you the first of what i hope will be many updates for the year.

*Member news for the month of February*

We have been busy building our goals for the year and are thrilled to be able to kick it off with our first formal event, celebrating multible birth week!
Preparations are ongoing for multiple birth week in March, our key Darwin event will be run on Saturday 22 during our playgroup time (9-12) at NT Playgroups Marrara and will be catered.
The event is free to members which includes both parents and all children. We are also happy to be able to welcome Grandparents/ those who hold a special place in your family to come along as part of your paid family membership for this event, however we would kindly ask that you please keep invitations to a maximum of two additional persons to assist us in providing for catering.
It is a great reminder that any additional carers or members of your extended family (be they related or formed) are able to become full members of the club if they wish!

We have been excited by the increasing turn out at our Saturday morning playgroup, and hope that the change in time slot has assisted.
The current committee is limited in availability on work days but If anyone is interested in creating a second playgoup at an alternative time during the week, please reach out and we can discuss what we might be able to do.

In another exciting announcement Kayla and I met with Meg Carne from FaFT (Families as first teachers). FaFT is a government run programme which provides free support for families and children in the NT. Initially providing support for indigenous families and children with additional needs, the focus at the Wanguri centre has been expanded and Meg and the team are enthusiastically inviting multiple birth families to utilise the service. I will provide additional information about accessing this resource as its own post shortly.

We are fortunate to have committee member Georgia working on identifying available grants that the club may apply for, to assist in funding member support and benefits, and are hopeful for successful applications in the near future.

We are hoping to encourage financial support of the club so that we can continue to provide events and benefits to members.
As such, we are seeking fund raising ideas, and any members willing and able to donate time towards fundraising activities to enable us to continue support of member events across the NT. If you have any ideas or are able to commit time, please send them through to the committee in an email to ntmbc@live.com.au

On a final note, If your membership has lapsed but you are keen to be engaged in and help re-invigorate the club, please consider renewing.
Alternatively, If you or anyone in your network wish to make a donation, please know reciepts can be provided and donations over $5 are tax deductible.

We appreciate your valuable time and support and hope you can join us for multi birth awareness week!
