Week 6 - HALF WAY

At the end of week 6, we are officially half-way through our program. Which will leave us with 6 weeks until the big day!

Tips of the week are pretty much unchanged, we are just increasing distance:
🏃Take your rest and stretch days seriously - you don’t want to over do it!
🏃‍♀Push yourself on the Darwin High Hill - it is one of the main challenges within the City 2 Surf
🏃‍♂️Try keep your heart rate and effort low on the weekend long run

As you dive into your journey of running, you might find yourself jumping some hurdles.

We have collated some of the most common issues that may arise and have included preventive measures to help overcome and include into your training schedule.

These include:
❗Overuse Injuries
❗Lack of proper recovery
❗Incorrect training progression
❗Inadequate warm-up and cool-down

Cross-training is a range of activities and exercises that build overall fitness and reduce the strain on specific muscle groups. It allows you to work muscles all over your body, that may not be used when participating in your single sport activities, like running.

An ideal cross-training routine incorporates cardiovascular exercise, strength training, and flexibility exercises. Cross-training activities include:
