Join The Bolt’s Weaving (Bush Animals) Short Term Respite (STR) experience in Daylesford. Under the guidance of an experienced artist, you’ll learn simple weaving and wrapping techniques to hand-craft your own colourful bush animal sculpture using hay and wool — no experience needed, just imagination and curiosity.

Gentlemen that do NDIS STA/Respite; couple of good looking Bolt roosters right here. Steve joined Casey, our Chief of Good Times, on a 6 day STA towards the end of last year. He certainly chose a good week for it as the sun was shining and the sky was blue. This was Steve's first taste of NDIS respite, he is already booked in for another stay with us, as being able to take time away from the family has helped everyone immensely, that's why we think respite is an essential NDIS service.

The Bolt is all about community, skill building and the LOL's. Every month we run skills based STA/respite experiences where like minded NDIS folk come together to learn new skills, socialise, build capacity and just feel good about themselves. Ceramics is a huge hit with our NDIS guests and across 2025 we have 5 experiences locked in. Did you know that one of the reasons that NDIS participants can use respite is to try new things and make friends. At the Bolt we undertake a matching process to match guests to one another that we think might get along, and we love it when we nail it.

Meet Georgia and Charlie who met at our recent Ceramics Respite Experience, and from the pictures I think you can tell that they got along swimmingly. Numbers were exchanged and there was talking about both returning to the Bolt for another experience in the future.

Ever wondered about the impact that NDIS Respite has for our guests. We recently received this feedback from one of our guests support workers on the impact that a Bolt respite had for her client. Respite for NDIS participants is not a holiday, it is a genuine opportunity to make positive change.

Meet Grant who was a recent guest with the Bolt. Grant spent 4 nights on a Build Your Own Experience respite with our Chief of Good Food and Good Moods, Narelle. Grant was a keen singer so he regaled Narelle across the week with his repertoire, Narelle may have even joined in on the songs she knew.

Across his stay Grant was able to get out and about in Daylesford and the surrounding areas, undertaking activities that he had not done before and working towards some of his goals. Narelle cooked up a storm for Grant, as well as heading out for brunch at one of our local eateries in the Daylesford community.

Meet Aleisha, who recently joined the Bolt for our Knitting experience in partnership with our good friends at Craftlandia. Aleisha and our other guests learned the essentials of knitting, including how to knit stitch and purl stitch.

Aleisha was accompanied on her respite stay by her service dog Duke and our very own Chief of Cakes and Bakes, Lisa. We loved having Aleisha to stay, it was great to see her learning new skills, meeting new faces and enjoying Daylesford and its surrounds.

We've just wrapped up our first Skin care experience for 2024. We love welcoming Dr. Tammy from Thewhitepigeonsaid, a biochemist with a wealth of knowledge who also loves to have a laugh.

Our six NDIS guests learned all about the benefits of gut health and tried their hand at making unique skin care products that were tailored to their specific skin types.
Guests were also pampered with face masks and learned how to grow and harvest herbs for healing herbal teas, with a focus around holistic health.
