Gorgeous Charmaine of FGHG and I go way, way back! We have been dancing a dance of mutual love and appreciation for around a decade and a half.

If you’re needing compassionate womanly counselling; birth preparation or birth debriefing I’ll be available from start of July for in person and online appointments.

In 2024 The Liptember Foundation released their research into Australian women’s mental health, finding the biggest influences are:

🍎personal circumstances,
🍎physical health,
🍎financial stress,
🍎work challenges,
🍎relationships, and
🍎societal expectations

These challenges are often made worse by gender-specific health conditions.

Conditions such as endometriosis, polycystic ovarian syndrome, fibromyalgia, and menopause can deeply affect mental well-being.

Physical health issues often overlap with emotional struggles, creating a compounding effect that can be difficult to navigate.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is an evidence-based compassion-focussed psychotherapy that helps to build psychological flexibility - a skill that allows you to adapt to challenges while staying connected to your values.

ACT helps you create space for your experiences through the cultivation of mindfulness, self-compassion, and emotional resilience.

Hi long time since I’ve dropped by. I’m Nina, founder of and lately .womanly.counsellor.
Mamashanti is now twenty years old! That’s two decades of of moving and breathing with hundreds of pregnant women and gender diverse folk and their partners for enhanced fertility; peaceful pregnancy; positive birth; nourished postpartum; inspired parenting; healthful and vital menopause and through it all - lifelong pelvic floor integrity.
I stepped away from offering group classes a while ago, birth preparation is now an immersive online offering and tailored private sessions.
Sitting at the feet of women experiencing one their most transformative experiences has been the most illuminating preparation for my here and now of womanly counselling.
These days it’s all about the one-to-one of feminist oriented counselling seamlessly entwined with body centred psychotherapy.
This all happens in Kyneton and online; from January I’ll be offering sessions in Melbourne. Watch this space and .womanly.counsellor for updates!!
Like you, I’m constantly growing and changing. Looking forward to sharing more with you
xx Love Nina

It’s been a long, cold and just lately a bit lonely winter. After a steady decline in his health, my beloved furry companion, Bungle died 6 weeks ago. Since then, I have been deeply immersed in grief work that comes when one loss opens the portal to so many sadnesses.
Many of you meet Bungle in real life when he attended classes in Melbourne or Castlemaine, and if you came to my place for birth preparation sessions, Bungle sat in on every single one. Bungle featured in every online session and is immortalised in my Breathe for Birth series!
That’s 13 years of companionship, hundreds of hours of holding space and beautifully role modelling my dearest concept of practical intimacy.
My grief work has been a cloistered affair. In the past few weeks, there have been many hours wrapped up and alternating between crocheting and tears. It’s been a good thing to give myself the time and comfort to release as needed and then to return to keeping my hands and mind busy with a complicated craft project. I haven’t communicated much, it’s been interesting that quiet industry has been my place of comfort and solace. Hence the long while since I last posted.
It’s been 6 weeks and I am still missing Bungle dearly. However the pain is no longer acute and instantaneously crushing.
I feel the softness that comes with a new, wider opening to our common humanity, the tender way we are all here to love and with experiencing love, to experience loss.
So here’s me releasing another long, slow, silky soft sigh in honour of the blessing of being Bungle’s human for 13 years. And a loving thanks to the way you so warmly embraced Bungle’s presence in our sessions together.
Love xx Nina
