Our physiotherapist Cass was recently awarded the Accredited Hand Therapist credential by the Australian Hand Therapy Association! Cass has completed several years of additional studies over numerous courses, multiple exams, mentoring, and deep diving into all things hand therapy to make it here. Join us in congratulating her for an amazing achievement! Your hard work has paid off and we are so proud of you, Cass!

There’s been a lot going on behind the scenes here at Canberra Hand Therapy lately, which means we’ve been a little quiet on the socials front!

So let us catch you up! To start with, we gathered with our colleagues from Canberra Hand Centre a few weeks ago to celebrate a BIG year of all things hand therapy, surgeries and recovery, as well as a sprinkle of Christmas magic✨🙌🏼 Thanks to the incredible team at Beltana Farm for yet another delicious night in a gorgeous setting!

Need a Custom Splint? We’ve got you covered! 💪🏼

After surgery, injury, or with certain upper limb conditions, you may be fitted with a temporary splint or cast at a hospital or clinic. But for optimal support and alignment, a custom-made splint or orthosis is often the best solution. 🦴

At Canberra Hand Therapy, our experienced therapists can fabricate splints on the spot during your appointment — tailored and unique to you. 🧬

Custom splints can assist with:

👉🏼Fractures & dislocations
👉🏼Carpal tunnel syndrome
👉🏼Trigger finger & mallet finger
👉🏼De Quervain’s tenosynovitis
👉🏼Tendon, ligament, or nerve injuries
👉🏼Post-op support, and more

Splints provide support, rest, and protection while aiding recovery and function. Your therapist may also recommend exercises to keep unaffected areas moving. 👋🏻

Most splints are made from thermoplastic, which is heated and molded precisely to your body. Alternatives include neoprene and leather or a combination! 🔥

Introducing the newest member of the CHT team, please give a warm welcome to RACHEL!

Rachel commenced with Canberra Hand Therapy earlier this month as our new Administration Manager and brings a passion for teamwork, problem solving and delivering high quality customer service. Already she has shown herself to be confident, capable, and a lovely addition to our admin team and the wider CHT team, and we are grateful to have her!

🐯A bit about Rachel….

Originally from Singapore, Rachel graduated her Bachelors of Science from Michigan State University before working as a zookeeper at the Singapore Zoo and Mogo Zoo for 7 years. She furthered her studies and graduated with a Masters of Science from University of Western Australia before moving to Canberra with her partner.

When away from work, Rachel enjoys training Muay Thai Kickboxing and occasionally competes in amateur fights 🥊. She also enjoys painting 🎨 and spending time with her dogs 🐾.

From humble beginnings as a small sole trader practice, we’ve grown into a thriving, full-time clinic—thanks to our dedicated team of skilled therapists and an exceptional admin crew who keep everything running smoothly.
But most importantly, thank YOU—our wonderful patients, and the incredible specialists, surgeons, allied health professionals, and GPs who continue to place your trust in us. We wouldn’t be here without you. 🙏🏼

Here’s to nine amazing years—and with double digits just around the corner, we might have to plan something extra special for next year! 🥳

This week Canberra Hand Therapy have farewelled someone from our amazing admin team, Rebekah!

Bek has been with CHT since the early days, starting off as a receptionist and working her way up to Practice Manager, all while juggling a young family. She has been instrumental in setting up our administrative processes, training and overseeing staff, and of course greeting all of our patients at the front desk with her warm, welcoming smile.

Bek is off on a new career adventure and we wish her all the luck and enjoyment for her next chapter. We will miss you, Bek! 👋🏻😊
