Heartburn is often misunderstood.
In many cases, it is not caused by too much stomach acid, it is caused by too little.
Stomach acid is essential. It breaks down food, supports nutrient absorption, and keeps digestion moving. When acid is low, food sits in the stomach too long. That is when fermentation, gas, reflux, and bloating begin.
This is why so many people stay bloated even after being prescribed reflux medication. Suppressing acid does not correct the issue when the problem is low acid to start with.
When stomach acid is not supported properly, digestion struggles and gut symptoms become ongoing.
This is something I spend a lot of time educating clients on, because gut health always starts here. Understanding how your digestion actually works changes how you approach symptoms long term.
If you are constantly bloated, dealing with reflux, or feel like food just sits heavy, this is worth looking into properly.
