Yesterday we welcomed Senator Jenny McAllister, Minister for Disability and the National Disability Insurance Scheme and Alice Jordan‑Baird MP, Member for Gorton, to NeuroRehab for an on-site visit at our Deer Park clinic and discussion about the real-world impacts of recent NDIS changes.

This visit provided an opportunity to share the operational challenges these changes are creating for providers, as well as the flow-on effects for the people we support. Importantly, several of our clients also spoke directly with the Minister about how these changes are affecting their day-to-day lives.

We appreciate the time taken to listen to these perspectives and the opportunity for open dialogue.

We would also like to thank Alice Jordan‑Baird for facilitating this visit and for her ongoing engagement with local providers, participants and government.

At NeuroRehab, we know that no two people experience a neurological condition in the same way. That is why multidisciplinary therapy matters.

When our diverse range of therapists work together, care becomes more connected, coordinated and meaningful. Goals are shared, progress is aligned, and therapy supports the whole person, not just one area of function.

A multidisciplinary approach can support movement, communication, cognition, emotional wellbeing and participation in everyday life, all while reducing ensuring everyone involved is working towards what matters most to the individual.

It is about building a team around the person, creating consistency across therapy, and supporting progress at a pace that feels right.

Because better outcomes are built through collaboration.

For many people after stroke, regaining movement in the arm or hand means reconnecting with everyday life. Being able to do things like hold a cup, get dressed, or return to a favourite activity.

With our expanded upper limb therapy capacity, more people can now access focused, goal-driven support sooner. This means more time working on what matters most to each individual, and more opportunities to build confidence and independence through recovery.

We’re excited to offer greater access to therapy that supports meaningful progress and everyday achievements.

Celebrating International Day of People with Disability

Today we recognise International Day of People with Disability! We take a moment to highlight the contributions, creativity and strength that people with disability bring to our communities. This year’s theme, Fostering disability inclusive societies for advancing social progress, aligns closely with our values at NeuroRehab.

Across our clinics, we have created a special artwork to spark conversation about inclusion. Clients are invited to respond to the prompt “To me inclusion means...” and add their reflections to a growing display. The wall is already filling with thoughtful, funny and heartfelt insights that remind us how diverse and important inclusion is.

We are grateful to the people who come through our doors every day. Their voices guide our practice and their participation enriches our services and our broader community. By celebrating this day together, we continue to work toward environments where everyone feels respected, welcomed and able to participate fully.

The holiday season can be an ideal time to focus on a specific therapy goal. With routines shifting and a little extra space in the calendar, many people choose to book a short burst of sessions to build confidence, practise skills and create meaningful momentum.

At NeuroRehab, our team tailors therapy bursts to what matters most to each person. This might include improving movement, refining daily tasks, feeling steadier on your feet, rebuilding strength or preparing for a return to work, study or community activities.
Therapy bursts help you make the most of the new year, giving you targeted support and clear direction for the months ahead.

If you are hoping to work toward a particular goal over the holiday period, our team is here to help with flexible appointments across our clinics for both adults and children.
