Recently, we were called out to check a cow with a “facial abscess”… but turns out she just really loves ball sports 🎾😄

Surprise diagnosis: tennis ball stuck in the cheek!
Thankfully, Dr Antoinette sorted it and the patient is back to moo-ving happily again 🐄💚

The festive season is fast approaching! If your pet takes regular medications, now is the perfect time to check how much you have left.

👉 Please make sure to order repeat prescriptions early so your pets stay comfortable and well over the holiday period.
👉 Compounded medications can take 2–3 weeks to arrive, and many compounding pharmacies close over Christmas — so get those orders in ASAP to avoid delays!

Celebrating Dr Merrilyn Fitzgerald

Today we celebrate our wonderful Tasmanian EVA Representative, Dr Merrilyn Fitzgerald, an equine veterinarian with over 20 years of experience and a deep passion for surgery.

Armed with not one but multiple ANZCVS memberships, Merrilyn has been a driving force behind the establishment of Tasmania’s first resident equine surgical service. Through vision, persistence and leadership, she has helped bring a state-of-the-art surgical suite and true colic emergency capability to Tasmanian horses and their owners - a remarkable milestone for the state.

Outside the surgical theatre, Merrilyn is a talented rider, devoted mum, and an unapologetic advocate for fine Tasmanian gin. She brings warmth, intelligence, grit and a wonderful spark to our EVA community, and her commitment to elevating equine care across the island is felt by all who have worked alongside her.

Merrilyn, thank you for your passion, your expertise and the heart you pour into EVA and the horses of Tasmania. We are proud to celebrate you today. ❤️

‼️🤳 TELSTRA OUTAGE 🤳‼️

We are currently being affected by the Telstra outage in Deloraine. The issue is affecting mobile reception in the area and is mainly impacting the ability to phone into the clinic, in particular, our after hours service.

We have spoken with Telstra and they have advised the works they are undertaking will be in effect until the 7th December.

So in the meantime to try and ensure you are able to contact us in the event of an emergency:

⚫ Ensure wifi calling is enabled on your device. This will allow you to make calls when connected to a wifi network.
⚫ If need be, drive out of Deloraine until you have reception again to be able to place a call.
⚫ Where possible, use our online booking service at meandervets.com.au or use Facebook Messenger to contact us.

✔️ We will use a seperate mobile carrier for our on call to ensure we are ready and able to receive inbound calls.
✔️ We will ensure wifi calling is turned on on our devices.
✔️ We will ensure we are checking out Facebook Messenger app as often as possible.

We want to assure our clients we are doing our very best in these difficult circumstances but want to assure you, we are here and available to assist 🐄🐶🐱🐑🐇🦜
