Welcome to Deniliquin Home Care Services.
I’m so excited!
It has taken a lot of hard work and the help and support of many family, friends and of course those professional people, to get where I am today.
So you may be asking “what is this business all about”.
But before you delete or press that other button, have a little read.
I am Connie Haines, if you are in Deni you may already know me, but those of you who don’t – here is a quick summary.
Some years ago my husband and I owned Deni Sand & Soil – ah that may ring a bell. I drove that little pink truck around town delivering garden soil & sand usually with a couple of kids perched up in car seats with me.
During this time, the mother in law Nanny Margaret was diagnosed with Dementia. Well what the hell was that and what do we do about that? That was the beginning of some learning that has led me to a wonderful job that I love.
After selling out of the business, there was a job advertised at Orana, one of our local facilities for aged care. Mmm I thought, I might apply for that. It was a great job, I loved it, I had the responsibility of making the days fun. Along with the job was some TAFE training. That went well. Then another lot of training, that also went well.
After 4 years I left Orana and had the opportunity to look after an amazing woman, in her home. She knew she would only need me for 1 year, we had the best year. And I did a little bit more training at TAFE.
When that year ended, I began work with Home Care NSW as the Co-ordinator for the Deniliquin area – more training. Short story; Home Care became Australian Unity and I took a gap year, travelling around the world.
On this world trip I did this long long walk, 758Km long actually, the Camino St. James (Pilgrim Way) in Spain. There is a lot of thinking time when you walk. What did I like doing? What qualifications did I have?... and it all led me to this; Deniliquin Home Care Services.
So here I am, open for business, to provide quality care to people in their homes.
