30 YEARS OF SERVICE RECIPIENT
Dr Sharon Jackson has devoted over 30 years to improving health outcomes in rural and regional communities, with a special focus on Western Australia. After graduating from the University of Melbourne in 1988, she gained experience in Indigenous health, refugee health, and community health centres across Australia and New Zealand before settling in Denmark in 1998.
Her early rural career began at Geraldton Regional Aboriginal Medical Service (GRAMS), where she was drawn to the challenges and rewards of community-controlled healthcare. It was here that she developed her passion for rural medicine, while also embracing coastal life—learning to dive, fish, and windsurf.
As a GP at Denmark Medical Centre, Dr Jackson has provided holistic care, with expertise in women’s, children’s, and adolescent health, chronic disease management, and emergency medicine.
Dr Jackson’s commitment to patient-centred care and her passion for improving rural health outcomes remain central to her work. Outside the clinic, she enjoys spending time at the beach, playing soccer, and being with her family.
