Assisted reproduction is an incredibly personal and often trying time for those involved. While online support groups can help validate experiences and make you feel less isolated, not all groups are built the same. Trust is paramount.
So here are some helpful questions to ask when choosing what's right for you.
Who owns the group?
Is the admin identified? And what is their background and intention for the group?
Is the group monetised?
Is the group transparent about if and how it is used to drive business?
Is it led by a trusted guide?
Are there positive guidelines in place and active admin management of conversations to ensure members aren't exposed to misleading or harmful information?
How does the group make you feel?
Is the content shared helpful or validating? Or does it make you feel unsafe, overwhelmed or confused?
Lastly, always be cautious about what you share online. Even within private groups, never share personally identifiable information online.
