Patrick Lias Remedial Massage Remedial massage Remedial, relaxation and deep tissue massage

18/10/2021

Hi loyal clients and friends. Just an update on my working status. Over extended lockdowns and in the absence of being legally able to treat, I have picked up other permanent work that I will be continuing for the time being.

I am also happy to announce that my partner and I are expecting a baby due by mid November! This makes working from my home clinic space not viable. However, please stay in touch, if I return to massage work in the near future I will keep you all posted.

Thanks, Pat

To my clients and followers - just a quick message to let you know that I am taking a short break but will be back up and operating soon.

I will keep you notified,

Thanks Pat

My bet is that there are thousands and thousands of people out there who have tense shoulders, necks and forearms, and who are in need of a remedial massage...more so than usual.

The culprit? Poor home work setups. I know I have neglected prioritising this aspect of my health, afterall, even the word ergonomics is boring.

Make the time and effort to get a good desk setup. Watch this video.

And if you're still tight from lockdown computer time, book in for a massage at http://www.patrickliasmassage.com.au/book-appointment/

In the last of my Foundations of Health blog series, I explore the importance of social connection to our health – a timely subject given that lockdown has now (pretty much) lifted here in Melbourne.

No man is an island … except the Isle of Man, which is located in the Irish sea between Great Britain and Ireland. Male’ is also an island in the Maldives, so it’s a silly saying really. And outdated, being gender specific, as women can be lonely too. The point is that people need other people...

I have just heard news from my association and unfortunately the state government is not letting remedial massage therapists operate under the current restrictions.

This is despite the fact that Daniel Andrews himself is the person probably most in need of a remedial massage, given his current stress levels and notable thoracic kyphosis. (Joke)

The date set for reopening is Monday 2 November but the good news is that it may be sooner if numbers stay low. I will keep you updated.

Stay well, feel free to book in advance from Nov 2 via my online booking link, and I hope to see you soon!

Pat

Hi valued clients and friends.

You may be wondering if I am allowed back to see clients under today's Vic Government announcements. I am wondering the same thing.

Unfortunately I have to wait to hear from my association, which from past experience, may not be until tomorrow. The government say that all allied health is allowed back, which is a positive indication.

However technically, Remedial Massage is not registered with with Allied Health Professions Australia. Also, it seemed like the Health Minister mentioned unrestricted operation of allied health modalities currently seeing patients, and this does not include remedial massage.

So in summary, I'm not sure, but I'm sure I will be opening up soon the initial reassurance had been with stage 3 of the roadmap.

Feel free to book an appointment online at my website for now and I can confirm, or reschedule, as soon as I hear from my association.

The focus of health optimisation is often about the food we eat, how much we exercise, and perhaps about the amount of sleep we get.

However, an often neglected but important factor in maintaining good health is reducing our exposure to environmental toxins.

The bad news is, they're everywhere. The good news is, perfection is not necessary and there are many easy steps we can take to minimise our 'toxic load'.

The wonders of modern life has brought many advances, some significant and some trivial. In general, as a result of industrialisation, our collective quality of life has improved. However, an unfortunate bi-product of modern life is the exponential increase in the creation chemicals and toxins, and....

Today I explore the link between spirituality (which I define very broadly) and health. I also provide a simple gratitude exercise that my partner and I practise daily.

Whether or not you are comfortable with the term spirituality, the science shows that people who have a sense of spirituality can experience health benefits. For instance, one review of 51 studies published between 1972 and 2014 found that people with a sense of spirituality had a reduction in anxie...

In tough times, whether on a personal or wider social level, it's important to foster positivity and perspective. This need not be a difficult shift of mindset – all we need to do is make more time to play!

In this week's blog post I explore the importance of playfulness in both children and adults alike.

In my last blog post I shared a self-hypnosis technique that can be applied in many ways, including goal setting. While it can feel great to get things done and to concentrate much of your time and energy into goals, ambitions and responsibilities, it’s also important to leave some of your time an...
