Suffering from heel pain?

It could be plantar fasciitis.

Symptoms of plantar fasciitis include:

• Pain when getting out of bed in the morning
• Pain when getting up from rest in the evening
• The pain will often ‘warm up’ and get better after walking on it for a few minutes
• Long periods of time being on your feet can also bring on your symptoms

One of the first things I do to help people with plantar fasciitis is apply strapping to their foot, like the photo above.

This helps reduce the pressure on the heel and can make walking more comfortable.

Not all heel pain is plantar fasciitis though.

So to make sure you are getting the correct treatment, book in to see your local Podiatrist to have an assessment and start your recovery to being pain free.

With the warmer summer weather here, a lot of us will want to walk barefoot, especially when at home.

This patient didn’t feel the small piece of glass in their heel.

Fortunately, the glass didn’t break the skin causing an infection.

Always be careful when walking barefoot, especially if you are diabetic or have neuropathy (loss of feeling) in your feet.
