A number of mums and dads have suggested that I record some short first aid tips, like this one, to educate parents about some of the more important first aid topics.

I’d love your feedback.

Did you find this beneficial? I’ve got more in the pipeline already, but specifically what would you like to see?

I genuinely enjoyed doing this course, and I think it's amazing that you not only took the time to organise it, but that you paid for your mums and dads to attend!

This short clip clearly shows the error that occurs so often when people use an EpiPen in a moment of extreme stress.

Keep your thumb away from the orange end, as that is the part that contains the needle! Hold the EpiPen in your hand forming a fist around it. Do not get into the habit of putting your thumb anywhere near the end!

And as I always tell people, always read the instructions before you use the product, even if you feel comfortable in it's use, as it’s so easy to make a mistake.

It’s always sad to hear about a serious choking incident, but always fantastic when it ends well.

Choking will always be one of the most common and scariest of the childhood medical emergencies.

Almost without fail, when I run my baby/ toddler first aid courses and mention that choking is the next topic, mums and dads say that choking is their biggest concern and one of the major reasons they are doing my course.

And almost without fail, they are surprised when I demonstrate basic choking first aid procedures for a baby/ toddler, largely because they’ve only done general courses where the focus was adults, and little ones are treated differently.

What makes the situation worse is how many of those I teach have seen choking procedures for a child that I myself would never perform, as they are incorrect/ risky by their very nature

If you haven’t done a baby/ toddler first aid course within the last 12 months, I genuinely urge you to do one.
Do it with whoever you want, but do it and get it done!

I continue to run PRIVATE courses for people in their own home during the day, evening or weekend for their small group of family or friends. It’s easier to organise than you think. The other option is to book into one of my public courses available on the website.
