Yama Ki Farm

Yama Ki is set on 54 acres of native farmland bush. Our beautiful property is forested with stringy bark eucalyptus trees, mountain ash trees and tree ferns.

Yama Ki is nestled in the Yarra Valley mountain forest, only 1.5 hrs from Melbourne, and features self contained cottages, nourishing shiatsu massage treatments, and workshops/retreats. We are nestled in the hills of Don Valley, 1.5 hours from Melbourne, 10 minutes from Healesville Sanctuary, right on the doorstep of the Yarra Valley winery region. The natural environment attracts an abundance of

Australian wildlife including wombats, wallabies, king parrots, and lyrebirds. We enjoy fresh mountain spring water and clean country air. We are a farm with over 600 organic hazelnut trees and various kitchen garden veggie patches. With self-contained farm cottages on the property, we have accommodation to suit everyone, whether you’re planning a romantic getaway, family holiday, or relaxed time with friends.

Burdock (gobo) harvesting time! It’s a big effort to dig out the roots, scrub, peel, slice and dehydrate for 10hrs… but the medicinal benefits and delicious earthy taste is well worth it! We dry it to use throughout the winter/spring, mostly enjoyed in a nourishing miso veggie soup and we look forward to sharing homegrown gobo in our upcoming retreats.

The wisdom of nature ~ Japanese ink art retreat

Japanese soul food - thanks to and for a soul nourishing miso lunch with our permaculture community.

Tomi prepared so many dishes to inspire our miso cooking at home and we all felt full in our hearts, belly and soul.

If you’re interested in learning how to make miso, join us on Sunday 19th June for a 3hr hands on miso making workshop. We will prepare miso from scratch, you’ll have your own jar of miso to take home, and we will also enjoy a wholesome macrobiotic miso soup lunch.

Solitude - finding time away to be by yourself, without distractions or pressure to do anything, and to come back to your true self.

This has been the theme for our last few guests at fern lee cottage. Taking a few days out, alone, nestled in the forest, drinking cups of tea, sitting by the fire, and enjoying quiet time.

Do you need some ‘me’ time? Fern lee cottage is available this weekend for that much needed rejuvenation.

Winter wonderland at mt Donna buang. There’s something special about snow amongst the forest and tree ferns that makes your heart beat faster with excitement and brings a smile to your soul.

It’s looking like a deep winter this year so we are expecting plenty more snow play days at mt Donna buang, an easy day trip outing from your cosy forest stay at Yama ki.
We have spare toboggans for guests to borrow, so pack your winter woolies and bring that childish playfulness with you
