Focus on Speech PTY LTD With a caring approach & high quality service, we focus on helping you. Treatment is individualised We offer individual and group sessions within our clinic.

Focus on Speech PTY LTD provides assessment and intervention in the following areas:
o Articulation (speech sound production)
o Oral Language (receptive and expressive language)
o Pragmatics (social skills)
o Phonological Awareness (awareness of sounds)
o Literacy
o Fluency (stuttering)

Focus on Speech PTY LTD is a service for children and adolescents. School, kindergarten and home visits are also available. Early intervention services are offered to preschool aged children and their families who are encountering developmental conditions such as Autism Spectrum Disorder. Flexible appointment times are available from Monday to Saturday during business hours and after hours. Medicare rebates are available to clients with a care plan authorised by their GP or Paediatrician. Rebates are also available by most private health funds. We are not registered National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) providers, however can accept NDIS clients who have self-managed or plan-managed funds.

Resource of the week: Talisman 1 Series

The Talisman Series is a high quality, evidenced based literacy program that follows a structured synthetic phonics program. The series contains 10 books; each with a different phonic focus and a workbook which includes a variety of activities to teach and consolidate the clients learning of the phonic code.

The talisman series can target the following goals:
🎯Pronunciation
🎯Segmenting
🎯Blending
🎯Splitting multisyllabic words to enable to reader to tackle longer words independently
🎯Learning new vocabulary
🎯Reading Comprehension - answering questions based on the text
🎯Proof reading and editing

Introducing the newest member of our team: Katherine! ⭐️

Katherine is an enthusiastic certified practising speech pathologist who completed a Bachelor of Arts (Linguistics and Applied Linguistics) and a Master of Speech Pathology, both at the University of Melbourne.
She has a special interest in providing evidence-based therapy to children with speech, language, and social communication difficulties.
For all children and adolescents with whom she works, Katherine is dedicated to adopting a strengths-based approach to support them to feel confident in their communication.

Katherine’s Interests:

1. I live in the Yarra Valley, and in my free time, will go on hikes and forest walks in the nearby Dandenong Ranges. 🌲
2. I enjoy reading, and am currently reading 'Pachinko' by Min Jin Lee. 📚
3. My favourite video game is the Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. 🎮
