Dru Yoga Classes

Dru Yoga is a graceful and potent form of yoga, based on flowing movements, directed breathing and visualisation. With its foundations set firmly in ancient yogic tradition, Dru works on the body, mind and spirit - improving strength and flexibility, creating core stability, building a heightened feeling of positivity, and deeply relaxing and rejuvenating your whole being. Studio Pilates Classes

Pilates is an exercise class that increases core stability and works the main stabilising muscles in the body. It improves your posture and helps to strengthen and tone the entire body working with any muscle imbalances in the body from a whole body perspective.

‘Pilates develops the body uniformly, corrects wrong postures, restores physical vitality, invigorates the mind, and elevates the spirit.’ Joseph Pilates

Ideally you want your body to be relaxed and invigorated, your mind to be peaceful, and your emotions to be balanced. If this sounds appealing and you'd like to know more then send me a message or simply turn up at a class 💜🧘‍♀️. Cheers everyone!

This term we’re going to foster an attitude of gratitude. Gratitude doesn’t require big moments. We can feel grateful just to wake up, just to breathe. The ordinary in our lives can be sacred too. When you recognise what’s already enough, you find you’re not pulled around by desire or deficiency. In the words of Marcus Aurelius – When you arise in the morning, think of what a privilege it is to be alive – to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love.

We’re also going to focus on back care. We’ll do this by working through the Dru Spinal Alignment Sequence, three routines from the Dru Back Care Course, and finish off with some lovely spine related postures. At each session you’ll be standing for half of the class and lying down on your mats for the other half. You might want to bring some extra blankets for a little more support on your mat or consider layering two mats one on top of the other.

Please note that these classes are pay as you go and there's still space in the Monday night and Friday morning classes however the Tuesday morning classes are now full.

This weeks starts a new 10-week winter term of Matwork Pilates. This term I will be introducing the small Pilates ball to the classes, and we will practice a mixture of straight matwork, and matwork with the ball exercises. The small Pilates ball should add an element of fun to our workout increasing the variety of exercises in the class. Including the ball to our existing matwork exercises will increase your stability, balance, and resistance training, improve your core muscle activation, and in some cases make the exercises more accessible for some people and more challenging for others.

Please note that the evening class is full but there is still spaces available in the morning class. Feel free to trial a class first to see if it's for you. 😉

Saturday the 21st of June is not only the Winter Solstice, but also the 11th International Yoga Day. The theme for this year's celebrations is, Yoga for One Earth, One Health. To mark the occasion I'd like to invite you to a free morning of Dru Yoga at the Donnybrook Library.

Quite often our ego can create a sense of separation and otherness, making it difficult to see the common humanity between "us" and "them". So my interpretation of this year's theme Yoga for One Earth, One Health, is all about connection and oneness with everything around us.

See flyer for details - booking essential as there are limited spaces. Many thanks!🧘‍♀️☺️

A new 10 week term of Matwork Pilates is about to begin. With the shorter days and cooler weather heading our way, this is the perfect time to embrace the season and keep your fitness program going. Not only will Matwork Pilates build stability, strength, mobility and flexibility in your body, but it can also help you in other ways too.

🍂Pilates is an indoor exercise that's good for you and the perfect place to escape the cold.
🍂 exercises can help warm you up and keeping muscles stretched and less rigid and stiff.
🍂Pilates movements and simply being around other people, can help combat autumn and winter blues.
🍂Improving your balance and keeping your core muscles strong will keep you be more stable on wet, slippery surfaces.
🍂Pilates helps promote good posture that will serve you well even when you're sitting more and keeping warm on those cold days.

So let's look after your body and keep you upright, moving, connected, and strong over the coming months.
