Only 6 of us today, but we enjoyed a lovely walk through the historic goldfields area of Warrandyte. A few hills that everyone handled well and the weather was kind - a bit of drizzle, but the rain that threatened didn’t happen.

We headed out to Kinglake today for our club hike. We started off on some ondulations to get warmed up before climbing Mt Andrews. The seemingly never ending ascent proved quite a challenge for some, while the loose surface on the descent caused some slips. We found a shady spot at a picnic ground for lunch before following a quiet stream back to the cars through the beautiful forest.

HG day 2 - Mt Cope, Power Supply Hut, Ryder's Hut and High Plains Ck Falls. A cool day for a hike with plenty of flies buzzing around. Some brave people went for a swim in the Falls. An 18k hike mostly off track.

Every year walkers from various clubs gather at Howmans Gap for a 4-day hiking extravaganza. Hikers can chose from a wide variety of hikes ranging from easy to hard. Today some us hiked up Heathy Spur, Edmondson Hut, Mt Nelse and Johnston Hut. A good 20k.

We had 21 walkers, a glorious day, and a glorious location (Toolangi forest near Healesville) for a great day of walking. Starting from WirraWilla carpark we headed up the Quarry track to the intersection with Monda Road. Track conditions were good with just a few sloppy areas to navigate. Time for morning tea arrived and the group split with 11 walkers heading off to Mt St Leonard with Arthur leading, and the remaining 10 walkers heading down the Tanglefoot track with Karlene.
Tree ferns were lush down Tanglefoot with the new fronds making the forest a vivid green. Lots of birds were in full voice as we navigated the ups and downs finally reaching the intersection with Myrtle Gully Walking Track. There were some very boggy sections down the bottom end of the circuit, but all we continued downhill back to the cars with a delightful breeze enjoyed by all.
Great group mix. Club stalwarts, visitors from Diamond Valley, an abundance of other leaders, and a member trying out a new distance and grading challenge. Thanks to the whips and co-leader. There is nothing like the joy of walking in the bush.

Last weekend a small contingent of our club attended FedWalks at Wilsons Prom. This is an annual gathering of bushwalking clubs organised by Bushwalking Victoria. This year's hiking program was put together and lead by the Bayside Bushwalking Club. Saturday evening entertainment started with paella and continued with guest speakers prof Lindenmayer and the Head Ranger at WP. BWV celebrated its 90 year anniversary!
The Irish band Saoirse made sure everyone got a chance to have a dance.

Our club hiked Paul's Range today. First up a big hill, yay! We were soon huffing and puffing, and stopping to admire the views. We saw and heard many different birds, the wildflowers were out and surprisingly there were plenty of grass trees dotted around the forest. The 'undulations' continued on till lunch, after which it was all downhill! A few puddles and 16km later, we were back at the cars. The rain held off and a pleasant breeze kept us cool.
