Today, our page is turning purple for National Domestic Violence Remembrance Day 🎗️

We remember every victim, mourn with those left behind, and stand beside victim-survivors and all those impacted by domestic and family violence.

Working in someone's home comes with risks you might not see right away.

Taking the time to complete a safety assessment can help you better understand the environment, reduce risk, and plan ahead.

These tools can help:
• Home safety checklist – for NDIS participants to complete and share with workers
• Risk assessment tool – for workers to complete and identify necessary actions

Taking a proactive approach can help reduce risk and support better outcomes for everyone involved.

📣 The Australian Government has announced several changes to secure the future of the NDIS.

The new way of doing planning – called new framework planning – is part of these changes. New framework planning will deliver fairer and more consistent budgets through a new support needs assessment process and budget method.

Following consultation with people with disability and their families, carers and advocates, the rollout of new framework planning will be delayed until 1 April 2027.

This will allow more time to:

👉🏼 listen to feedback

👉🏼 test proposed rules and processes

👉🏼 share more detailed information about the transition.

You do not need to take any action immediately.

Current NDIS eligibility and planning policies remain in place. Participants should continue to access their disability related supports and services as outlined in their existing NDIS plans.

We will let participants know in advance if anything affects them personally.

The term ‘sharp practices’ refers to a range of behaviours that involve unfair treatment or taking advantage of people, including over-servicing, high pressure sales and inducements.

Sharp practices are dishonest, unethical, and not in the best interests of NDIS participants. This includes:

✅ Unfair pricing – where a participant is charged more for a product or service than other customers, unless there's reasonable justification for the price difference
✅ Incentives or referral payments offered by providers to encourage participants to sign up for their services

We are actively monitoring provider behaviour for sharp practices and have a range of compliance and enforcement actions we can take against providers we identify as deliberately and repeatedly doing the wrong thing.
