So excited for this group - it’s been something I have been working on for a long time!

This group is perfect for children who need to move while learning regulation strategies. Using their own bodies and other simple tools they will experience success and learn skills to understand their body and find calm in moments of overwhelm and anxiety.

Such a perfect explanation! So many people, including myself have experienced this.

Term Groups are designed for all neurodivergent children, including those with PDA. The groups are kept small, child-led, and low demand. Children have flexibility to join or leave as needed to self-regulate in a safe, understanding environment. Sessions take place in a home environment, helping reduce anxiety and allowing children to feel secure as they explore their emotions and develop.

Groups fill VERY quickly. PM or comment below to reserve a spot or ask any questions.

It takes the body time to calm — not just a few deep breaths.

When a child is overwhelmed, their nervous system can take 20–60 minutes to fully settle after a surge of stress hormones. That’s why calm can’t be rushed. They need safety, patience and connection — not pressure to “get over it.”

Understanding this is at the heart of brain-based parenting. Regulation isn’t instant; it’s built through co-regulation and trust.

This also demonstrates why a child needs longer than 5 minutes out of class after an incident.

There is a full range of calming strategy prompts in our toolkit below.
