πŸ›οΈ Council is asking our community to provide feedback on a proposed local event half day for the Dorrigo area on the Friday of the annual Dorrigo Show πŸŽͺ

While the proposed local event half day is not a public holiday (and businesses can choose whether to participate), it aims to increase attendance at the Dorrigo Show, support local volunteers, strengthen community connection and boost local economic activity

Survey closes 10 MayπŸ‘‡

πŸ“£ Bellingen Shire Council is seeking community feedback on a proposal to introduce a local event half-day for the Dorrigo area on the Friday of the annual Dorrigo Show.

πŸŽͺ A local event day recognises events of local significance and provides an opportunity for the community to participate and support them. It is not a public holiday, and businesses can choose whether to participate.

The proposal aims to:
βœ” Increase attendance at the Dorrigo Show
βœ” Support volunteers
βœ” Strengthen community connection
βœ” Boost local economic activity

We’re inviting feedback from businesses, schools, community groups and residents. Your feedback will help Council determine whether to proceed with an application to the NSW Government.

πŸ‘‰ Do you support the proposal? What impacts would it have for you?

πŸ“… Submissions close: 10 May 2026.

Dorrigo Library now has its very own book club! πŸ“š

Unlike traditional book clubs, Dorrigo's Friday Book Club gives curious readers the chance to meet like‑minded folks and chat about books connected to a specific monthly theme or topic, rather than everyone reading the same book each time πŸ’¬πŸŒŸ
Each month, the discussion is facilitated by library staff, and the book club is encouraged to share their reflections on a book that relates to the chosen theme. πŸ“–

πŸ“… The Dorrigo Library Book Club is held on the last Friday of every month.

πŸ‘‰ The March session will be on Friday 27. Follow the link below to register and drop into the library from 10:30am to join in! πŸ€—

We've kicked off 2026 with a bang! πŸŽ‰

In Janurary and February, seniors have visited Coramba, Guyra, and Yamba on daytrips.🚌

We've been loving our recent town lunches at the Food Angel Kitchen, the Top Pub, the RSL, and even down the mountain at Thora Store. 🍽

We alternate daytrips and town lunches weekly, helping seniors stay active, connected, and engaged in social activities. We’re excited about all the wonderful plans we have coming up over the next few months. 🌟

In February, Dorrigo residents had the opportunity to come along to a presentation delivered by Arc Lawyers on the topic of Navigating Your Estate Planning. πŸ“

We were glad to see a massive turnout of around 60 people in the Dorrigo Community Hall. Topics ranged from when to make a will,
power of attorney and the advanced care directive.

We are so thankful to John Mooney and the Arc Lawyers team for having these important conversations. πŸ’›
