Thankyou to organisers, Midwives and centre families for joining us to celebrate 10 years of our fantastic facilities last weekend.

If you were unable to make it on the day, or missed your chance to add your fingerprint to the tree - you still have a chance!! Weekdays from 8-3:30 you can pop into the centre to add your mark (weekends by appointment only please) until the END OF AUGUST.

The Birth Centre offers:
One-to-one care by a known midwife during pregnancy, birth and up to six-weeks post birth,
Active, natural birth in a home-like environment, in the hospital.

Farewell luncheon on Tuesday at the Townsville Birth Centre as the outgoing Friends of the Birth Centre (FBC) committee donated goods with the funds raised.

Pictured with the memorial artwork, FBC also donated a demonstration pelvis. baby and placenta, new sheets for the king and queen sized beds, 2x educational dvd's to be loaned out to patients, 1x birthing education book along with childrens toys and books for the waiting rooms. This is in addition to the 5x TENS machines donated in July 2015.

FBC would like to thank the birth centre midwives and staff for their work not only providing continutity of care to women and their families, but also for their ongoing work with FBC to improve the birth centre and continuting to raise its profile.

Thank you to the familes who supported FBC though the sale of stretchy wraps, donations and other fundraising activities.

We would also like to thank all of the volunteers who donated their time and put in a lot of hard work to keep FBC running for the past 10 years.

Finally and most importantly we would like to thank Philippa Scott and Honey Newman, the driving force behind getting the Townsville Birth Centre up and running. The families of Townsville are forever grateful for the tireless efforts of you both.

A big thank you to Friends of the Birth Centre (FBC) Townsville division for celebrating our Birth Centre midwives today with a luncheon and beautiful wall hanging for the centre, in addition to other items such as new sheets, educational DVDs and booklets, and children's toys for the waiting rooms. FBC Townsville recently wound up their local operations and have spun off to Maternity Choices Australia Townsville branch.

Townsville low risk mammas-to-be, are you interested in birthing in our birth centre? Spaces become available all the time for various reasons so it's worthwhile asking to be put onto the waiting list. Spaces available for due dates as early as September!!! Call the centre on 4433 2779 to get your name down :)

The lovely Yasmin from Moody Min generously donated her time to dye a couple of wraps for Maternity Choices Australia. Isn't this one STUNNING?? It was so hard to capture in a photo just how beautiful the colours are.

CLOSURE OF FRIENDS OF THE BIRTH CENTRE TOWNSVILLE NOT FOR PROFIT ORGANISATION.

Friends of the Birth Centre Townsville will not be continuing as we were unable to fill any of the committee positions. At today's AGM the outgoing committee members voted in favour of closure.

Funds will be used to purchase items for the Townsville Birth Centre and stock on hand will be donated to Townsville Birth Centre and Maternity Choices Australia.

We want to thank all our followers for the support we have received and most importantly we would like to thank the Townsville Birth Centre midwives and staff.

We will be calling for nominations for all committee positions. Positions to be filled are President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Morning Tea Coordinator x2, Sales and Merchandise Coordinator and Facebook administrator. All executive positions (President, Secretary and Treasurer) need to be filled for Friends of the Birth Centre to continue.

If we are unable to fill the positions we will make a motion for closure of Friends of the Birth Centre Townsville. If the motion is passed and closure does take place, the Townsville branch of Maternity Choices Australia will continue to provide most of the services we currently provide and will continue to advocate for not only the Townsville Birth Centre but all maternity services in Townsville.

Great news! We’ve been nominated to participate in the Grill’d Local Matters donation program at Grill'd Townsville this month.

Every month, Grill’d donates $500 to local groups and asks their customers to decide who the money goes to.

When customers buy a burger, they will receive a token to put into one of 3 jars representing different groups. Whoever has the most tokens at the end of the month receives $300. The other two groups receive $100 each.
