UPDATE 24.11.25: Thankfully we have come through Fina intact, just re-shuffled and a bit messy for Monday. Everything should be reset and running as normal tomorrow. Thanks to everyone involved in the post-cyclone clean-up, it has been a real team effort!

Like most of us, I can't get across town in a safe manner, to assess what damage has occurred at the clinic. For now, I'll touch base with everyone who has an appointment booked for Monday and Tuesday, and reassess as the day unfolds.

At this time of year, ear canals are warm, dark, moist places - three adjectives fungal species love. It doesn't take long for 'Tropical Ear' to take hold.

Otomycosis - the medical term for a fungal infection of the outer ear canal. Not the name of a cocktail you'll find at Sweethearts (well, not yet 😆)!

Miss ‘E’, it has been an absolute pleasure working with you and your family over the last 12 months. While I am going to miss your smile and enthusiasm for unicorns, I am so happy that your ears are healthy, and your hearing is good. Wishing you all the very best as you embark on your school years!

It is important for parents to understand that some days the results just don’t come. When working with children it is important to approach the session with effective engagement, time, patience, and flexibility. Even when using this approach, coupled with your best intentions, some kids just do not want to tango. It is then that we lean on true play, creativity, and imagination to build collaboration and trust. It may not be today, but we will get there!

Originally J.B came in to arrange custom hearing protection for the V8’s. Further discussion led to him disclosing the difficulties he has keeping generic earphones in place, when wearing them to stream music during recreational walks. Abracadabra, a few weeks later …
