An esky full of Vodka Cruisers graveside for a 94 year old cracker of a woman. She raised three burly sons and held her own. A wonderful woman who loved cats, a twirl on the dance floor with her grandsons, her daytime TV, driving really really slow and a Cruiser or 5

A beautiful reminder from this fun loving firecracker, to slow down, to savor the moment, to enjoy the music before it’s over.
She loved life, enjoyed it with a champagne in one hand, cig in the other, having a good laugh. All whilst being a supportive mother, raising a truly remarkable man.

This is beautiful. Dementia is so cruel, not just for those suffering the disease but for the loved ones around them.

When I am older
I might not remember
I might get confused
And I might lose my temper

And there may be times
When I don’t know your name
Because it’s been trapped,
Locked away in my brain

And though it will hurt
To think I could forget you
Offer me smiles,
Hold my hand if I’ll let you

And talk of adventures
We had long ago
Show me the photos
Of people I know

Read me the books I read
When I was young

Today marks the start of Dementia Awareness week in the UK. I strongly believe this is something that needs awareness all year round but it seemed like a fitting time to share this again today.
