Trauma did not create who you are.
It recruited your innate qualities into survival.
Your strength became superhero level-strength.
Your analytical mind became hypervigilance.
Your compassion became self-erasure.
Trauma often doesn’t invent our qualities.
It exaggerates them.
Overextends them.
Survival recruits them into constant service.
Healing is not the removal of who you are.
Healing is the right-sizing of your innate qualities.
Not less strength.
Less over-carrying.
Not less compassion.
Less self-erasure.
Not less awareness.
Less constant scanning for danger.
Perhaps the real question is:
Who are you when your qualities finally get to serve your life instead of only your survival?
