What a day.
Over 60 people came together on Saturday for the launch of my debut novel Lies Within Darkness — and I am still overwhelmed with gratitude.

The beautiful highlight of the afternoon was hearing my former Year 12 English teacher, Keith Gillam, speak. He described the 17-year-old me as the “embryonic version” of the woman I’ve grown into and shared how deeply the novel moved him. His words moved everyone… it was a moment.

I spoke about how this story began — not as a novel, but as a way to manage PTSD after a traumatic experience. Writing became my anchor, my way of externalising fear and reclaiming myself. Within two months I had written 45 chapters. What started as therapy became a book I knew I had to share.

Thank you to everyone who attended, bought a book, asked a question, or simply sat with me in that moment.

Just the heads up. This may be a very slow week for me. I had a fall yesterday smacking my head hard onto a wooden floor. My cheek is bruised and swollen, my body rather tender. I’m drowning myself in remedies.

My debut novel has arrived and I’m excited to share the story behind what inspired this healing journey - because that is what this project was. I didn’t start out intending to write a novel. I just needed a way to transmute the terror consuming me. What evolved was this - Lies Within Darkness.
