MyoStretch is a small group stretch class where you can improve your flexibility, mobility, reduce muscle/joint pain, prevent conditions affecting joints/tendons/muscles and improve athletic performance.

Led by Renee who holds qualifications in both Myotherapy and Fitness.

Renee draws from her knowledge and experience as a Myotherapist to provide a focused approach to preventing and rehabilitating from common musculoskeletal conditions including tendinopathies, trigger points, myofascial restrictions, bursitis, impingement, joint dysfunctions such as patellar tracking syndrome and more.

Techniques and tools can include:

➡️ static stretching
➡️ dynamic stretching
➡️ PNF stretching
➡️ myofascial release
➡️ trigger point release
➡️ joint mobilisations
➡️ resistance bands
➡️ foam rollers
➡️ trigger point balls

Mind over matter

Our thoughts and beliefs can be very limiting at times. Often we think or beleif we are not able to or are not capable of doing or achieving certain things. We are often a whole lot more capable than we think we are but we limit ourselves by what we tell ourselves. Sometimes we don't try something because we think it will be too hard or that we won't be able to. We won't know unless we try. We succeed in building on our strength, fitness, agility, coordination, balance and mobility by choosing to try something a little more challenging over time. Choosing to try and not limit yourself with self doubt and fear. Small steps are required to move forward but if you keep doing the same thing, you will keep getting the same results. Don't talk yourself out of it.

Exercise progression and regression ⬆️⬇️

High plank to low plank is an exercise that strengthens the core, shoulders, chest and arms. I love this exercise particularly for improving anterior shoulder strength and stability while strengthening the core. Progress from the wall, to the knees, to the toes.

An exercise can be made harder (progression) or easier (regression) to suit individual needs and abilities and an exercise can always be replaced with another exercise that targets the same muscle group.

Exercise progression and regression can be done a number of ways including changes to:

➡️ Depth
➡️ Range of motion
➡️ Weight
➡️ Speed
➡️ Position
➡️ Adding movements, pulses, holds and more

So no matter where you are at in your strength and fitness journey there is an exercise to suit.

It's always exciting starting a new program 🙌

A new set of exercises to continue to challenge your strength, cardio, balance, mobility, coordination and agility.
New exercises to keep your body and mind adapting and progressing.
And it's always a huge sense of satisfaction and accomplishment when you finish a program and reflect on how far you have come 💪
Repetition and consistency is required for strength, fitness and skill development, change is required to keep your body and mind adapting.

Looking forward to the next 5 weeks then it's almost Christmas 🎄🎁

If it doesn't challenge you, it doesn't change you.

Finding that sweet spot between too easy and too hard is where progress happens.

Too easy and nothing changes, too hard and you risk injury and/or severe DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness).

Finding your starting point and building on that with small consistent steps, soon enough what was too hard will become to easy.

I can help you to establish a starting point, to recognise when an exercise is too easy or too hard and encourage and support you to build on that 💪🙂
