✨ Disability doesn’t define a person — their story does ✨

Recently, we asked our team about the biggest misconceptions around living with a disability and working alongside people with disabilities. Marissa, our Director, shared this beautiful reminder: every individual has their own strengths, stories, and value to bring — and society is richer when we focus on ability, not limitations.

🐢 Animal rescue crew, back at it again! 🐑

Earlier this year, Ado and Support Worker Bailey came to the rescue of a little lamb in need… and now they’ve added a turtle to their rescue résumé! 🐢💜

When they spotted this little guy far from home, they jumped in to lend a hand and gave him a lift back to the river where he belongs.

We’re so proud of the kindness and care these two show — whether it’s people or animals, they’re always ready to help out!

Olivia has been with us since the early days, and her warmth, kindness, and supportive nature continue to shine. She brings a friendly presence to the team and has been part of so many special moments along the way.

🎨✨ Crafternoon fun at Empowered Choices! ✨🎨

Our participants had a blast in group supports this week, turning inspiration into masterpieces.
From bright sunflowers 🌻, to tasty doughnuts 🍩, delicious cupcakes 🧁, a few cold ones 🍻, and even the mighty Cronulla Sharks 🦈 — the creativity was flowing!

We’re so proud of the amazing artworks everyone created — what a colourful and fun way to spend the afternoon together 💜

Anna is a woman of many talents and passions — she loves sewing, hitting the gym, ten pin bowling, and especially going to musicals with her family 🎭 Right now she’s counting down the days until she sees Wicked in November (and we can’t wait to hear all about it!).
She’s also a loyal friend who gives the best cuddles, and she never says no to anything chocolate. 🍫💙

If you're an unpaid carer there’s a free service you may not have heard of: Carer Gateway. It’s run by the Australian Government and designed specifically for carers.

Here’s what makes it helpful:
✔ Emotional support like counselling & peer groups
✔ Practical help: skills training, coaching, planning resources
✔ Respite options — planned or in emergencies
✔ Local referrals & information to connect you with supports

🏉 Footy Colours Day is almost here! 💜

On Tuesday 30th September, our participants and team will be coming together for a BBQ lunch and dressing up in our favourite footy colours — all for an incredible cause.

We’re proud to support Fight Cancer Foundation's Footy Colours Day, raising vital funds to help kids with cancer continue their education and stay connected while they undergo treatment.

Earlier this year, Randy and Laura hit the road for a day trip to Hickeys Falls — and what a perfect day for exploring!

There’s something special about spending time in nature — fresh air, beautiful views, and a good dose of sunshine 🌄💚

At Empowered Choices, we love supporting participants to get out and about, enjoy new experiences, and make the most of what our region has to offer.

💜 Advocating for a loved one while supporting their independence can feel like walking a fine line. You want to be there to protect and guide, but also to step back so they can make their own choices and grow in confidence.

It’s all about balance:
✨ Knowing when to listen, and when to step in.
✨ Encouraging their voice to be heard, while being ready to advocate if needed.
✨ Celebrating every step forward — no matter how big or small.

At Empowered Choices, we believe families and carers play a vital role in empowering participants while still respecting their independence. 🌱

Together, we can create space for both choice and control.
