Liza Twohill Holistic Health

Liza Twohill Holistic Health Naturopath, mentor, speaker. Advocate for regional and remote health. I want a more resilient regional Australia where chronic disease is not a reality

At Liza Twohill ( name change from Macquarie Natural Health), our focus is on tailoring individualized care to meet your health and lifestyle needs. We won't set targets that you will never reach. We give you the tools to make positive changes to the most important person in your life - you! The human body has an innate ability to heal if given the right environment. It is designed to win, not lose. We use appropriate scientific testing to identify these changes and provide safe and effective professional treatment to help you achieve your optimal health so you can stay happy, healthy and strong. Liza Twohill brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her patients. Liza has a long association with complementary medicine and is passionate about finding the underlying problem to a patient's health issues, rather than looking for a quick fix. As a child, Liza's family embarked on a journey using both western medicine and naturopathic medicine to assist her father with a life altering health problem. This gave her an insight into how both medicines can work together to resolve chronic health problems and an appreciation of the importance of a healthy diet and balanced lifestyle in providing the right environment to allow the body to heal. Liza has a Bachelor of Health Science in Complementary Medicine and Advanced Diploma qualifications in Naturopathy, Herbal Medicine, Homeopathy and Nutrition. She has a passion for learning and regularly attends training and international conferences to extend her knowledge and keep abreast of current trends. As a nutritionist and naturopath, Liza is among a growing body of health professionals determined to understand the complex web of chronic health problems and work together to bring a more holistic, individualized and self empowering approach to medicine. Liza has worked in the health sector since 1995 and brings a wealth of knowledge understanding and practicality to her patients. She is known for her determination to get to the bottom of a problem and is clear about her role to empower, educate and facilitate each person through their health journey. She is a member of the following professional associations:

■Australian Traditional Medicine Society (ATMS 8800)
■National Herbal Association of Australia (NHAA)
■MINDD Foundation
■Australian College of Nutritional and Environmental Medicine (ACNEM)

Do you take time to reset?

Not when you break.
Not when you are forced to stop.
But intentionally.

February has been full. Heat. Change. Full clinic rooms. Growth.
And I know that if I don’t build in small moments of nurture, my nervous system feels it.

For me, reset looks simple.
Nurture is not indulgent. It is foundational.
This is your gentle reminder to ask yourself:
What does reset look like for you right now?

Not perfect. Not expensive.
Just supportive.

Preventative care is not about doing everything perfectly.
It is about noticing early, responding thoughtfully and supporting the whole system around a person.
This reflection comes from my latest blog, now live at lizatwohill.com/blog

February has felt full.
Full clinic rooms.
Full hearts.
Full heat.

Over a week of extreme temperatures and the intensity was real. When the nervous system is already carrying a load, heat adds another layer. Slower mornings. More hydration. A little extra compassion for ourselves and our patients.

We’ve welcomed beautiful changes too.
A new clinic space coming to life.
Hot desking because every room is being used.
Shenae busy in Bourke.
Angie loving the human connection in clinic.

Before clinic… the juicer has been working overtime. So much celery in the garden means early morning green juice before clinic opens. A simple ritual. A reset. A reminder that nourishment does not have to be complicated.

Change is here. And we are leaning into it.

Regional Australia deserves care that understands context, distance, workload and lived reality.
Not scaled-down care.
Not delayed care.
But thoughtful, accessible support that meets people where they are.
This is why I continue to work, speak and advocate in regional communities.

Caring deeply is not the problem.
Carrying everything alone is.
I’ve unpacked this further in my latest blog, exploring sustainable care, boundaries and what helps practitioners stay well over the long term.

I’ve been in clinic for over 20 years.
The most surprising lesson I’ve learned is not about treatment plans or clinical tools. It’s about longevity. Sustainability. Knowing when to refine, adapt, or step back so the work can continue well beyond you.
Succession is not an exit strategy.
It is an act of responsibility to your clients, your profession, and yourself.

There was a time when environment alone supported regulation.
Now, even wide skies cannot undo constant pressure, digital load, financial strain and prolonged uncertainty. Chronic stress quietly overrides the body’s ability to recover.
This is not about going backwards. It is about recognising what has changed and responding with care that matches modern reality.
Do you agree?

Farming today carries far more than physical labour.
Chronic stress, chemical exposure, financial pressure, climate uncertainty and isolation all place a real physiological load on farming families. This is not weakness. It is the reality of modern agricultural systems.
When stress becomes constant, the nervous system never fully stands down. Recovery gets shorter. Resilience narrows. Health becomes harder to protect.
Rural health needs to be approached with context, compassion and practical support that fits real life on the land.
