Moustache Mayhem at Westhaven! 🥸

We had a brilliant time uniting our community for a fun and engaging Movember session! Our wonderful Children and Young People and their dedicated Support Workers got creative together, adding colour and flair to the cause.

The activity was a blast: we all got involved colouring in moustaches, putting them on sticks, and then utilising them as props for a great group photo session. It was all about fun, engagement, and raising awareness for men's health!

This Movember, we celebrate the health and well-being of the men and boys across our Westhaven disability community.

It’s Movember! Let’s talk about men's health.

This isn't just about facial hair—it's about opening up conversations around prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health, and su***de prevention. Movember encourages us all to step up and support the men in our lives.
How can you participate?

Move for Movember: Run or walk 60 kilometers over the month.
Host a Mo-Ment: Organise an event or gathering to raise funds.
Mo Your Own Way: Create your own challenge!
Donate and Discuss: Give to the Movember Foundation or simply start a meaningful conversation with a friend.

We will be doing colouring-in activities at some of our Westhaven outlets this Movember and may even get some staff on board too!

Our deepest condolences go out to the family, friends, and colleagues tragically affected by the recent loss of life at the Cobar mine. Our hearts are with the Cobar community and all those across the mining sector impacted by this sad event.
This tragedy is a sobering reminder of why workplace safety is paramount. At Westhaven, our commitment to providing a safe workplace is absolute.

What a powerful start to the week Orange had! Westhaven was honoured to participate in the NAIDOC March in Orange on Monday.

The energy and community spirit were incredible, with huge participation from local schools, businesses, and community groups.

We especially loved seeing the beautiful performance by the Wir-I dance troupe, connecting with community elders, and visiting the local vendors who were highlighting so many important causes. It was also fun to see the activities for kids and the historical display of NAIDOC posters.

A big thank you to the organisers for a successful march! The good news is that NAIDOC events are continuing in Orange over the weekend - make sure you don't miss them!

Game, Set, Match! Michael Ends a 20-Year Hiatus and is Dominating the Court! 🎾

Michael has always been one of our quieter participants, but his tennis story is making a lot of noise!

Staff Jocelyn built a fantastic rapport after discovering his history and passion for the sport—which he hadn't played in nearly 20 years! After a tentative start, his skills quickly came back, and now, just a month later, he is fully engaged.

He’s regularly practicing his serves, forehands, and backhands, playing short games, and is even planning a full 6-set match over the next two weeks. Most importantly, he's demonstrating a huge surge in engagement, showing noticeable improvement in his skills and even helping with clean-up after the games.

This is a beautiful example of finding the right activity to spark connection, joy, and remarkable progress. Keep smashing it, Michael and Jocelyn! 💪

NAIDOC Week celebrations will be held in Orange from 20-25 October, in recognition of the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. ❤️🖤💛

Everyone is welcome to join in the NAIDOC Week Street March and Official Opening today. The procession is scheduled to commence on Sale Street at 10:00 am, proceeding along Summer Street to Robertson Park. The official Opening Ceremony will be held at 11:00 am in the park and will feature a program of cultural significance, including traditional dance, song, and instrument performances, a formal Welcome to Country, and a flag-raising ceremony.

We invite all members of the community to attend this significant event.

An Unforgettable Week at Camp Elim 2025!

Look at those smiles! Our Westhaven participants just wrapped up an incredible week of independent living and making unforgettable memories at Camp Elim in beautiful Forster.

Our campers absolutely thrived! They embraced every challenge, conquering the high-flying giant swing, smashing water activities, and dancing the nights away at the huge fancy dress party. This annual All Ability Camp, brilliantly run by The Lions Club, truly delivered the thrills!
