This year Kintyre Village residents and staff have teamed up with Kintyre Lodge residents, family, friends and staff to collect donations in the form of gifts for children in foster care in our local area.

These gifts will be heading off to the wonderful team at Uniting Dubbo to distribute to the children and teens in foster care with the hope that it will send a little bit of joy and Christmas magic their way!

If you are a resident, family member or friend we’d love if you’re able to help us with a small gift donation. We send our biggest thanks to those who have already contributed ❤️🧑‍🎄🎅❤️

Kintyre Residents had a fabulous day on Tuesday celebrating the Melbourne Cup! With a delicious lunch, the big race on the big screen and some fun and games it was a great time had by all.

And while everyone was excited for the big race, we personally think that the Kintyre Cup races were the races to watch 👀

Massive thanks to Malcolm & Hela for organising and to all the volunteers that helped them put together a great afternoon!

Kintyre Residents and Staff enjoyed a laid back afternoon watching a crowd favourite on the big screen in celebration of 80 years of BaptistCare! The experience was made even better with the use of the new installed sound system and streaming capabilities!

And of course it’s not a cinema experience without the snack bar, filled with popcorn and a variety of drinks!

Here at Kintyre, we are lucky to have our Chaplain Karla supporting our residents both in the Lodge Aged Care Facility and our Independent Living Village! She does an amazing job!

Not sure what role a chaplain plays in resident wellbeing and what is involved? Have a quick read with the link in the original post.

What are the benefits of chaplaincy care in older age? Do I have to be religious to receive support from a chaplain? Can my chaplain support me with my faith, even though I’m not a Christian? ✨

When it comes to chaplaincy support in aged care, people often have a lot of questions. And it’s not just because of the frequent misconceptions around chaplains - spiritual wellbeing means something different to everybody. 🌱

To learn more, we sat down with BaptistCare’s Chaplaincy Manager Carolyn, who spoke with us about the benefits of chaplaincy and why it matters so much in an aged care setting - https://baptistcare.info/4bRvEJa

Residents enjoyed a pancake brunch for Shrove Tuesday this morning. With a mix of sweet and savoury pancakes and plenty of topping options, it was hard to decide what to have! 🥞🍴

A special thanks to Di, Julie, Marg, Claire, Rhonda and Ann for cooking up a storm so that everyone could enjoy the brunch!

While the festive season is a time of joy and connection, it can also bring challenges for those impacted by dementia.

There is the mental strain of additional socialising – either with visitors in your home, or out and about at Christmas events. It can also be difficult to adjust to changes in your usual routine or new and vibrant decorations around the house.

The good news is that, with a bit of planning and flexibility, your Christmas celebrations can still be fun, memorable, and extra special. Here are eight ways you can support your loved one with dementia over the Christmas period - baptistcare.info/SupportWithDementia
