May is Macula Month — a reminder to protect the part of your eye responsible for your sharpest vision.

Your macula helps you:
• read small print
• recognise faces
• drive safely
• see fine detail clearly

When the macula is affected, central vision can become blurred or distorted — even if your side vision stays normal. Many macular conditions develop slowly and early changes may not be noticeable at first.

A simple eye examination can detect problems early and help protect your sight. If you’re over 50, regular eye checks are especially important.

Thank you to all the optometrists who joined us for our Parramatta networking and education evening 👁️✨

It was a fantastic night of collaboration, discussion and shared learning, with case-based presentations from A/Prof Andrew White, A Prof Chandra Bala, Dr. Thomas Chan and Dr. Yen Cheng.

We truly value these opportunities to connect with our optometry colleagues and work together to support the best outcomes for patients in our community. Thank you again for being part of the evening — we look forward to seeing you at the next event.

Give your eyes regular breaks 👁️

Try the 20-20-20 rule:
Every 20 minutes
Look 20 feet away
For 20 seconds

Simple habits help reduce strain — but ongoing symptoms should always be checked.

Early eye checks can prevent small problems becoming bigger ones. Contact your optometrist or eye doctor if you're unsure.
