tif was created by Wiradjuri artist Lewis Burns. A strong flowing river provides fresh, clean water for those living beside it in camps. At campfires, people cook from the earth, with abundant natural foods they’ve hunted and gathered. As a community, people respect the earth and their country, united in a healthy lifestyle.

Did you know, if you have type 2 diabetes and you’re not already seeing a Diabetes Educator, the Western Diabetes Hub is here to help and can provide information and support to help you manage your health 🙌

The Western Diabetes Hub is a virtual service for people living with type 2 diabetes in western NSW, and offers multi-disciplinary care through a dedicated team of Diabetes Educators, Aboriginal Health Practitioners, Dietitians and Exercise Physiologists.

Our team works collaboratively with GPs and any other members of your care team, and can also help you navigate your care pathway to make sure you’re accessing the right services, where they are available.

Best of all, you can refer yourself to the service and there’s no fee to see our team. In fact, the team doesn’t bill Medicare either, so you can keep your Allied Health visits for other services. Of course, your GP can also refer you.

Still wondering if the service is for you? Well, the Western Diabetes Hub is for adults diagnosed with type 2 diabetes who are not already accessing the care they need, like:
✔️ People who are newly diagnosed
✔️ People with recent management or medication changes
✔️ People not achieving their health goals or management targets

For more information, you can email wnswlhd-diabeteshub@health.nsw.gov.au or ask your GP to send a referral letter, and our dedicated team will be in touch.

Throughout July, WNSW PHN funded a series of face-to-face National Asthma Council Spirometry Training Courses, supporting better respiratory care across our region.

The training kicked off in Broken Hill on 9 July, followed by workshops in Dubbo, Orange, and Bathurst with 67 health professionals attending from a range of regional and remote areas:
✔️ 5 GPs and Registrars
✔️ 52 Nurses
✔️ 6 Aboriginal Health Professionals
✔️ 4 Medical Practice Assistants

The training was exceptionally well received, with participants describing it as interactive, informative, easy to follow, and highly valuable, particularly for those new to spirometry assessment and interpretation.

Thank you to all who attended and contributed and to the National Asthma Council Australia for delivering such a valuable and practical training.
