Dr Oscar Brumby-Rendell and Dr James McLean are members of the Department of Orthopaedic & Trauma, at the Royal Adelaide Hospital (RAH). They are also faculty of , where they contribute to undergraduate and post-graduate teaching and research.

This week, Dr Brumby-Rendell and Dr McLean joined current and former senior Orthopaedic Surgeons, to celebrate the esteemed career of former Head of Unit, Professor Don Howie AO. During his career, Professor Howie was instrumental in establishing the Department as a world renown centre of excellence.

Dr Brumby-Rendell and Dr McLean are proud to be current members of such a distinguished Department and embrace their continued service to the South Australian community.

This week Dr James McLean spent time with prominent shoulder surgeon, Dr Ken Cutbush at St Andrew’s Private Hospital in Brisbane. Dr Cutbush has a special interest in complex total shoulder replacement surgery and uses 3-dimentional, computer templated bone augmentation to help optimise outcomes in patients undergoing shoulder replacement surgery. Dr McLean used the opportunity to discuss cutting edge techniques and innovations in shoulder surgery, including the manufacture of patient-specific guides, that enable more accurate bone reconstruction and implant placement in these complex surgical cases. Many thanks to Dr Cutbush and his team at St Andrew’s Private Hospital, for hosting Dr McLean in Brisbane this week.
